LeBron Fined $25,000 For Antics Following Season-Ending LossPOSTED: 8:59 pm EDT June 4,
2009 Los Angeles, CA -- (Sports Network) - NBA Commissioner David Stern announced on Thursday that the league fined Cavaliers forward LeBron James $25,000 for not speaking with the media after Cleveland's season-ending loss to the Orlando Magic this past Saturday.James showed questionable sportsmanship after the Magic unexpectedly ousted his club in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, opting to quickly exit through the locker-room tunnel without congratulating the Magic. The 24-year- old also skipped the postgame press conference with the media. The top-seed Cavs were favored to win the series, but despite the reigning MVP's best effort, they were shown the early exit, one that clearly agitated the league's premier player. "[On Wednesday] I spoke with LeBron James...He expressed to me, when he left the building and did not meet with the media and congratulate the Magic, he was wrong. He asked that I express to the media, to the Magic and to the fans his apologies," Stern said in a press conference Thursday. James was recently released from a Cleveland hospital after having a benign growth removed from his right jaw earlier this week. Copyright 2009 Courtesy of The Sports Network.
