Corey Ivy is back with the Browns.
The Browns announced Thursday that they've signed the veteran defensive back. Ivy's improbable journey to a long and successful NFL career started in New England in 1999, and after spending the spring of 2000 in NFL Europe he came to training camp with the Browns.
Ivy is a high-energy player who instantly provides experience and leadership to the Browns.
Ivy didn't make the final roster in his first try with the Browns nine years ago, and he played in the XFL in the spring of 2001. Later that year he caught on with Tampa Bay, and he's been in the NFL ever since. He played with Tampa Bay until 2004, including playing in all 16 games for the Bucs' 2002 Super Bowl team.
He's played 109 career games, making 21 starts. He joins previous free-agent signee Hank Poteat in adding experience to the Browns' secondary.
Ivy played the last three seasons with the Ravens, where he was a key backup and special teamer and made 13 starts in 2007.
He played collegiately at Oklahoma and also played 2005 with the Rams before signing with the Ravens.
