Our Governors

The School

St. Joseph’s School, Brighouse, is a Catholic Primary School for boys and girls of mixed ability, aged between 3 and 11 years.

St. Joseph’s is one of the 101 Catholic Schools of the

Diocese of Leeds and is run in partnership with the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale’s Schools and Children’s Services.

St. Joseph’s was founded in 1879 to meet the particular needs of the Parish Community of St. Joseph’s Church, Brighouse.

ST. JOSEPH

St. Joseph is the patron saint of our school.

We celebrate his feast day on 19th March.

Joseph was the husband of the Virgin Mary

and the foster father of Jesus Christ.

He was a hard working carpenter by trade.

He was also a just, kind and dignified man

who took very great care of his family.

We take St. Joseph as our example to follow in life.

Our School Crest

Our school crest has an image of St. Joseph.

He is holding the baby Jesus remoinding us of how he

protected and cared for him.

He is carrying a staff to represent his steadfastnesss and loyalty.

Every day in school we ask him

to watch over us and protect us.

We will try to be as loyal and steadfast as him,

caring for all those around us.
