Organizers for Saturday's "Ultimate Chaos" event have begun the promotional push for the show and the night's main event of former WWE star Bobby Lashley vs. former NFL player Bob Sapp.
Prize Fight MMA and Fight Force International, the event's promoters, have released a pre-event video, which is available to the right.
The video focuses on Lashley, also a decorated amateur wrestler, and Sapp, a K-1 kickboxer, as well as the co-main event of Gilbert Yvel vs. Pedro Rizzo.
The winner of the Yvel vs. Rizzo heavyweight fight is expected to replace Tim Sylvia and meet Paul Buentello at "Affliction: Trilogy" on Aug. 1.
That's not the only bout with Affliction ties, though. Affliction Entertainment Vice President Tom Atencio moves from the front office to the cage and fights Randy Hedderick on the card. Additionally, former IFL star and Affliction fighter Chris Horodecki takes on William Sriyapai, and Affliction vet Brett Cooper meets Waachiim Spiritwold.
Notables such as UFC vet Din Thomas and "The Ultimate Fighter 3" cast member Danny Abbadi are also on the card, which takes place at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.
The card has been heavily promoted in recent weeks. But that's pretty much a necessity. The event comes with a $29.95 pay-per-view price tag. While the UFC draws more than a half-million pay-per-view buys nearly every month, it's the only MMA organization that's found consistent PPV success in the U.S. Affliction also has had some marginal success (but only twice in the past 12 months), but others, such as the one-off YAMMA Pit Fighting, have flopped with the PPV model.
