OLYMPIACOS: Three more years for Bourousis
Ioannis Bourousis - Olympiacos - Final Four Berlin 2009A much-coveted All-Euroleague big man is staying put in Pireaus with the announcement on Monday that Olympiacos and Ioannis Bourousis have reached agreement on a new three-year contract. Bourousis (210, 26) was named to the All-Euroleague First Team this season after leading Olympiacos to the Final Four as the team's top scorer and rebounder. In what was a breakout season for him, Bourousis finished with 12.5 points and 7.4 rebounds on average in 22 Euroleague games. He also tied for the Euroleague lead with seven double-doubles while playing just over 21 minutes per game. It was the third season in Pireaus for Bourousis, who had made his Euroleague debut in 2002 as a teenager for AEK Athens, where he spent four seasons. He ended the 2005-06 season with Barcelona, playing only in the Spanish League, and later that summer joined the Reds. So far, Bourousis has not managed to celebrate any title with Olympiacos, but he has won two gold medals with the Greek national teams, at the 2005 European Championship and at the 2002 European under-20 Championship.
