Need for Government support for education

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governmental support for at least one out of every three institutions of higher education is among the suggestions made by M. Unconventional options such as Education Bond, Education Development Fund and Education Equity Fund should be resorted to for mobilising funds for the development of education. He said there was an urgent need to prescribe through legislation a new classification of educational institutions in three distinct categories — Government institutions, not for profit institutions by public trusts and societies and for profit institutions by individuals and families. Quality norms should be drawn up for all the three categories. - Special Correspondent
