Marti Pellow & the RTÉ Concert Orchestra
Marti Pellow, the lead singer and public face of the group Wet Wet Wet, also has a phenomenally successful career as a musical actor (Chicago, The Witches Of Eastwick) and solo artist. He makes his first appearance with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra this September, in an intimate evening of love songs and jazz standards like In a sentimental Mood, I've Got You Under My Skin, Summer Wind and many more. Curtis Stigers' concert with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra was a highlight of last summer. He's back in August to take part in The John Lennon Songbook, joined by Claire Martin, narrator Mark McGann of the famous Liverpool acting family, and the orchestra's Principal Guest Conductor John Wilson. Lennon classics like A Day in the Life, Ticket To Ride and Strawberry Fields are all linked by a witty and poignant narrative delivered by McGann. Fri 21 Aug, NCH.

This summer, fresh from a concert with the San Francisco Symphony, Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote and Porky Pig will cross the Atlantic to make their Irish débuts with conductor and creator George Daugherty and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Celine Byrne is one of Ireland's most exciting singers, going from strength to strength since winning the prestigious international Maria Callas Grand Prix in 2007. She performe with the likes of Roberto Alagna and Jose Carreras, one of the Three Tenors, and will sing with Carreras again in July in a televised concert in Croatia. Before that she joins the RTÉ NSO for an Opera Gala, singing glorious famous arias including Puccini's O mio babbino caro, Vissi d'arte and Un bel di, Michaela's aria from Carmen and Delibes's Les Filles de Cadix.
