After her manager said publicly that she might not return to TV's biggest hit as a judge -- which she's been since it began in 2002 -- fans started the #keepaula group on Twitter. Abdul, meanwhile, thanked them for their support on her own Twitter page: "If it weren't for you, this specific time and situation would feel a lot worse! xoP," she wrote. Her manager, David Sonenberg, has said she's yet to receive a new contract, even though auditions begin Aug. 6 for season 9, which airs in January.

Jeffrey Donovan, star of the USA Network series Burn Notice, was arrested by Miami Beach police on suspicion of drunk driving, according to the Associated Press. The 41-year-old actor was reportedly pulled over after he swerved to avoid hitting a police car from behind, and he then allegedly refused to take a Breathalyzer test. According to PEOPLE.com, which cited the official arrest report, Donovan told officers after failing a field sobriety test, "I really think I'm only borderline and not too drunk.... The only mistake I made tonight was drinking Benadryl with three glasses of wine." Donovan was released on $1,000 bail. If convicted of DUI, he could face up to six months in jail. Calls to reps at the USA Network were not immediately returned.

UPDATE: Dovovan's rep declined to comment, "as the case is currently a pending matter in the court system."

Paula Abdul: 'It does not appear that she's going to be back on Idol'

Paula Abdul's manager David Sonenberg told the Los Angeles Times that "it does not appear that [Paula's] going to be back on Idol" next season because the singer and judge hadn't yet received a new contract from FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the production companies behind the show. Auditions for season 9 of the show begin Aug. 6 and, if Abdul were to be involved this season, her deal would need to be locked by then. "I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful," Sonenberg continued in the interview. "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do." Sonenberg began managing Abdul at the end of June and said he has reached out to 19 Entertainment and told Fox that "Paula would love to be on the show" but, supposedly, he has not received any proposal.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest just signed a three-year deal to stay with the show that was reportedly worth $45 million. Abdul's decision to go public with contract grievances, especially in light of Seacrest's big payday bump, could be interpreted as just part of the negotiation game. Representatives for Fremantle, 19, and Fox all separately declined to comment to the Los Angeles Times.
