The Boxborough Conservation Trust (BCT) is a private, nonprofit, tax-exempt land trust formed in 1997 to protect Boxborough's open land for conservation, recreation, and other public benefit. The BCT may acquire land through land donation and purchase, hold negotiated conservation easements, and provide stewardship of protected land.

The BCT was created to help:

  • preserve the rural character of the Town of Boxborough;
  • protect the Town's natural resources including agricultural and open spaces, wetlands, wildlife habitat, and important features of historical or geological significance;
  • educate residents about the Town's natural resources while making such resources more widely available;
  • assist local landowners and Town boards to explore various options to achieve these goals.

Currently, the BCT has approximately 100 members and sponsors a variety of activities including trail clearing days, wildlife tracking walks, an annual elementary school t-shirt design contest, a quarterly newsletter, a March annual meeting, donations to the town library of conservation related materials, and informal and formal meetings with land owners interested in exploring various options for preserving their land (see Land Protection). Membership forms may be printed from this site or you can fill it out on-line. Either way send in your membership level by mail. All contributions are tax deductable.
