Introduction

Part one of our guide will be published Monday, March 23rd.

There's something incredibly alluring about the Pokemon franchise. For a series that hasn't changed a whole lot since its initial release in Japan in 1996, it still draws millions of gamers to it with each subsequent release, and for good reason. Pokemon Platinum continues a tradition that started with Pokemon Yellow back in 1999 -- it is, in essence, a supplement to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (much like Yellow was for Red and Blue), remaining essentially the same game as the games that preceded it, but with minor changes that, in the end, make the game harder.

In Pokemon Platinum, you'll travel back to Sinnoh, and the storyline remains largely the same as it was in Diamond/Pearl, with some differences, both minor and significant, that make the game different. Even if you've played Diamond or Pearl, Platinum is a game worth going back to. In fact, Pokemon veterans will find plenty to do with their old cartridges, since certain Pokemon can only be captured when games from the past in the Pokemon series are connected to the GBA slot on your DS. Pretty nifty.

Our guide will help you get from the beginning of the game to end, with detailed information outlining each step you take in the game. Every trainer you encounter in the game is outlined, with the specific Pokemon he or she will bring to battle. No item is missed, no area left unexplored, and no rock left unturned. Our walkthrough is about as complete as it will get. We also have an extensive side quests section that will outline adventures in the game that you don't have to undertake to finish your quest, but that are worth doing nonetheless. Our Pokedex, perhaps the biggest part of our guide, covers each and every Pokemon found on the Sinnoh Pokedex. And finally, our extensive Appendices section covers all of the in-game items, lists, Poketch applications, and even a document outlining some of the differences between Diamond/Pearl and Platinum.

So grab your favorite Pokemon and head into that tall grass. It's time to catch 'em all.

In this Pokemon Platinum strategy guide, you'll find:

  • BASICS // The fundmentals of being a Pokemon Trainer, succinctly covered.
  • WALKTHROUGH // We'll hold your hand during your journey through Sinnoh.
  • SIDE QUESTS // What's an RPG without optional adventures?
  • POKEDEX // Each and every Pokemon appearing in Platinum can be found here.
  • APPENDICES // Items, lists, changes from D/P, and more.
