June 28, 1979: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Al Holland and Ed Whitson to the San Francisco Giants for Bill Madlock, Len Randle and Dave Roberts.

February 27, 1984: Traded by the San Francisco Giants with Max Venable to the Montreal Expos for Al Oliver. The San Francisco Giants sent Andy McGaffigan (March 31, 1984) to the Montreal Expos to complete the trade.
