Game of the Year Edition
Our chums over at Sony have announced the forthcoming Game of the Year edition of LittleBigPlanet, coming to store shelves in North America on September 8th.
This new boxed edition of our favourite game contains everything the original copy did, but also some lovely bonuses, including seven sets of downloadable add on content, exclusive access to the upcoming ModNation RacersOnline beta, AND 18 exclusive levels made by some extremely talented members of the community, complete with video interviews with each of the creators.

I’m afraid to say that there is no current release date for Europe at this time, but hopefully it will wind its way across the seas one day.

I’m kind of glad Europe isn’t getting it to be honest, because no offence it would kind of be a kick in the teeth to people like myself who got the game on day one and have already purchased all the DLC in the Game of the Year Edition.
Will we be getting the 18 new community levels however?
Also, any else notice it says Playstation Home on the back of the case…

I already have all those DLCs, but my friend who doesnt have offline would love this because he has 0 DLCs, not even the free ones… So I’d like to buy it for him…
So, Price?
1st concerning downloaded content coming on the GOTY edition. Everyone acts as if this is something that has never been done before. Game value goes down over time so its only logical to include this. It makes the game more attractive to people who do not have it yet. This is somewhat like buying a PC and then complaining a month later when the same PC is being sold at the same price but with a free monitor.
Im not sure how they are going to address the 18 levels but I would guess these would be made available for current LBP owners in some fashion. If not, you can always sell your original version and buy the GOTY version.
The reason the levels are there is like an introduction for newcomers so that they can play them to see what LBP online is all about, and get creating themselves.
But yeah, it would be great if those of us who already have the game will somehow be able to play them. The other 17, anyway.
Quite a detour for a game made in U.K. to “wind its way across the seas one day” back to Europe. Pathetic really.
I think it’s rather pointless if you already have the game. First, couldn’t you just buy the DLC, even if it is slower than getting it straight away? Also, if you don’t want some of the DLC included, then why pay for something you don’t want. Thirdly, it’s pointless putting user created levels onto the disc when you can already play them on the original game. The only good things are 1) It’s LBP 2) Modnation racer beta and 3) LBP won game of the year.
I would feel bad saying Media Molecule has betrayed us day one LittleBigPlaneteers, ’cause I love you guys! But I really want those 18 levels, please make it DLC.
Wow im definatly will be getting this but this is kinda annoeying i bought all of the packs in the GOTY one so the only reason i will be buying it will be Modnation racers :/
k MM i am not a spammy sort of guy, but i soo want u to play my lvls. some r pokemon and they r my best. i would just luv 2 c a comment from the best fricken game people of all time. i had a wii, DS and i played em like hell. i was a nintendo fanatic. then at christmas wen LBP came along my wii and DS got blown away… i couldnt stop playin it (and i still cant XD) anywho u obviously dont hav 2 play em. i just wanted 2 say how awesome u r since u do get a few h8 comment about dlc…if u do decide 2 then my psn is the name i used 2 post this.

if this is a good price (and if europe hasnt got PSstore cards yet), i might just pick it up despite having the original. It contains all the DLC i want, and none of the others i dont want!

Please please please make those extra 18 levels DLC!I’ve loved LittleBigPlanet since day one and I(as well as many other LittleBigPlanet fans) would feel very betrayed if we could not get our hands on these new levels!I love what you guys are doing with this game but please don’t make us first day fans buy the whole game just for some DLC we may already have and some extra levels.

It has to mean that the user levels are just already ON the disc…since I know I’ve at least played Distress in the Ocean.
Basically I think they picked 18 best and included them + interviews with the people who made them (like it says)

The 18 User Levels are made exclusively for the LBP GOTY Edition Disc. They are not online or on the original LBP disc.
Yea guys, those 18 levels are user created, they ARE NOT, new story levels created by MM. They are just added on the disc so you dont have to search them through the community if you dont know their names.

Guys your daft, the 18 levels are community levels that will be included in the Game Of The Year Edition disc. This means the levels are already available to you. If you havnt seen those big levels you’ve been living under a rock havnt you?
For those of use that purchased MGS & Monsters or any of the other included DLC it’s just life . . should i also be complaining about the PS3 price drop announced today?
I’ve posted before about wanting to play community created levels off-line and if these 18 are new then they should be made available as free DLC for us early adopters.

Pfft. Like anyone who owns a PS3 doesn’t already own this game. I guess it’s for the ones who are about to buy a PS3 with the price cut or the new PS3 slim.
Bit gutted there is no release date for the UK, just pre-ordered a PS3 Slim and was looking forward to playing LBP. If I know the GOTY Edition MIGHT come out over here, I won’t be buying the original. It makes a whole heap of sense to me to release this with the Slim, bit of good will and a fantastic game for all those shiny new customers. Sorry chaps, I’m on the fence.

Wow… I hope those 18 levels are user created. the only level I regonized wasw the distress in the ocean… but they were showing it during the “create” part of the trailer, which means it probably isnt apart of the 18 levels… I dont want to have to spend 60$ on a game i already have. and cant media molecule just release modnation racer beta as a demo! i really want to play it!
Man, this sucks if you bought the game from day one… They everything for the price of $60 while we had to buy all that stuff with extra money… I also would like to get the beta for mod nation racers… looks like a real good game but, w/e cant do anything about it…

though I know GOTY versions are sometimes inevitable, I still feel so very hurt whenever it happens, and when a sequel comes out, I’m only feel forced to have to wait so as not to be ripped off again and see people who ignored the game to now be rewarded. Not feeling the love MM, especially since I still support this game and its potential.
People wondering about the 18 levels, and to you sword… Being one of the 18 that made a level, I can tell you the levels were made exclusively for the GOTY Edition of the game. These are not current or previous community levels.
I will hopefully get it for the modnation racers beta
This is exactly what I call pokemon syndrome. You release one game and then a year later you release it with some extra stuff. Im not buying the same game. This is little more than an insult to people who already bought the game and dlc.
Not really happy about the exclusive content. So much for following the game from day 1 (GDC2007) buying 95% of downloadable content, to get shafted by the developers. Way to treat your fans guys.
Having read some other sites I’m not really as annoyed about it as I was when I first read it. Showcasing our best creators and getting more people involved in a first class game is what we should be about.
What other game can keep 3 and 4 year olds, as well as their dad, amused all afternoon. Keep up the good work MM.

2.Will it register thwe fact that I alreafy have save data/ dlc for it?

7 got a good point on the second question. If we already got the original LBP, would we still get to keep the data or would we have to start collecting every item we had all over again?
Its developed in the UK but not out anytime soon there… ok…

tis sorta makes me feel bad lol not saying you shouldn’t come out with it but a got the game when it first came out and now i wont be able to play the 18 new levels and even if my friend has it and lets me play with him i wont be able to use the stickers that come with the 18 levels the only thing i say should be that we can get the stickers by playing with our friends other 18 levels
Why are you rewarding newbies with all new story levels? I dont want to be big headed or predudiced or anything but I have stood by you since day 1 and so have lots of other people and we are the ones (plus you other guys who didn’t get it day 1 and MM) that have got LBP so far. Please dont only give them to newbies!
Will I lose my current LBP data?

Guys, there’s this really cool thing in LBP that you can use to find the best levels. Some new-fangled gadget known as the “Search function”…you should try it.
OMG I really want that Goty edition because I love LBP and I have already buy all of your level from store:)
