Exclusive: 'Bones' plots 'Family Guy' crossover!

Categories: 'Bones'

Bonesstewie_lSuddenly, the cancer-induced ghost sex Izzie was partaking in on Grey’s Anatomy isn’t looking so preposterous.

As I previously reported, David Boreanaz’ Bones alter ego will suffer a life-threatening health crisis this May that will cause him to hallucinate. Well, I can finally reveal the destination of his head trip: Quahog, Rhode Island. Put another way, Booth is getting a visit from Family Guy’s acid-tongued baby villain, Stewie!

No joke!

“This is going to sound odd, but it is a completely believable event
given [Booth's condition],” maintains executive producer Stephen
Nathan, who declined to reveal the mystery ailment causing his visions.
“It’s not just a fantasy of ours. There’s medical research to back up
what’s going on with Booth. There are conditions where you can see
cartoon characters.”

But don’t expect to see Emily Deschanel’s Brennan sparring with the
evil tot: The cartoon cameo will be limited to Boreanaz. “We were never
going to have Stewie just walk into the lab and start talking to
everybody — that would be a bald and shameless crossover,” Nathan adds
with a laugh. “It was always conceived to be a realistic hallucination…
one that would lead us to what we wanted to do with Booth and Brennan.”

In case you’ve been living under a rock without Wi-Fi, what they want
to do is get the two detectives in bed having sex in the May 14 season
finale — an event Nathan assures me will “not be a hallucination.” But
first, Brennan will ask Booth to father her child on May 7, a request
that leads to Stewie’s first of two appearances. “Stewie will be in the
sperm donation room with Booth,” explains Nathan, who says Family Guy
creator Seth MacFarlane will sign off on all of Stewie’s dialogue.
“Whatever Seth wants to do is fine. As far as I’m concerned Stewie can

What do you think? Is this crossover too silly even for Bones? Or do
you have faith that the ends (Booth’s diagnosis on May 7) will justify
the means (Stewie!) Sound off below!

Well, I guess it’s not that much worse then Luc Robataille as Booth’s spirit guide or Angela’s giant bee thing.
But if the Booth-Bones hook-up happens because Stewie Griffin told them to, I’ll carpet bomb Fox headquarters.

  • Dorian

Silly? A joke? NO WAY. This is so freakn FTW its not even funny. Going to be great.

  • Rose Tyler

I hate Family Guy but even I have to admit it sounds pretty funny.

  • Crystal

Oh, darn. I was hoping for a Simpson’s crossover like The X-Files did. Too bad!
(haha, good “April Fool’s” joke right there, Ausiello.)

  • Jordan

Sounds ridiculous, kind of like they are jumping the shark IMO. As much as I love Stewie this seems like a “bald and shameless crossover”…I’ll pass. I have been really disappointed this season, I use to love it but now I usually just dvr it and watch it when I am bored.

  • Jenn

I think it’s hilarious. I can so see booth talking to Stewie.

  • MC

Could be hysterical, could be disastrous. Given that I like both shows Im more inclined to go with hysterical at this point.

  • Brent

I’d actually be fascinated in seeing how Brennan would react to seeing Stuey. Probably along the lines of “I don’t know what that is,” or “What’s that mean?”

  • Nicole

I think it sounds a little crazy, but hopefully the can pull it off. At the end of the episode as long as I am convinced it is believable I’m cool.

  • Big D

Up till down I have not given in to my curiosity about Bones, there is after all, only so much space on the DVR. But this sounds so entertaing that I am going to start watching Bones now.

  • jj

is this a really cruel joke…please say it is

  • Christina

I think this is the time those pricks and prudes come out. Personally, this idea is HILARIOUS. And as long as it remains in context to everything, I’m all in.
And believe me, this is realistic, whether or not some people choose to believe it.
I can’t wait to see this.
(On another note, is Bones still going to run the full 26 episodes this season? With the preemption…I don’t know how Fox is going to handle that.)
    I can’t wait!

  • tommy

I actually think this could turn out really well if thye pull it off

  • Jason

Stewie is KING! This I gotta see!

  • Briana

    Wait, what? Really Hart? Really?

  • Jena

I love Bones, but the past few episodes have been bad enough. I’m seeing a whole shark-jumping fiasco in this episode.

  • Alexandria Sommers

Funny, if they don’t preempt it!

  • That’s just wrong!

Noooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! I love Bones, but I HATE Family Guy. These two shows just don’t mix! I’ll suffer through it for Bones’s sake, but I fully plan to whine about it A LOT, both before and after it airs.
My latest theory on the Bones-Both nookie: Booth can’t go through with the whole sperm donation thing (maybe because of Stewie), so they decide to get pregnant the old-fashioned way.

  • Josh Emerson

I’ve never seen Bones but this would get me to watch!

  • daisyj

Could be nuts and awesome, could be nuts and horrible. I’m afraid I’m leaning slightly more towards horrible; I still haven’t regained my faith in the showrunners since the Gormagon fiasco last season. But hey, at least my boyfriend will actually want to watch one of my shows with me.

  • Megan

I don’t know. I love Bones and Stewie is my favorite Family Guy character. If anyone could pull it off, my money is on David Boreanaz.

  • Tanja

Oh please tell me that’s a fake. It so doesn’t fit the show. That’s the worst spoiler ever.

  • jeffrey bryan

  • Maeve

Okay What the f**k. is this an early april fools joke

  • Mitoch

If it happens, I’m done. We’ve all put up with a lot. This would just be too much.

  • Rebecca

that is one truly terrible idea. oy vey.
i wish this show hadn’t become so… stupid.
stop underestimating the intelligence level of your audience, bones execs. make the show smarter. get rid of the rotating completely one dimensional interns in the lab and, obvs, ditch this family guy idea.

  • jj

maybe if i close my eyes and bang my head against the wall…i can forget i ever read this! I am not happy!

  • jj

god…i have to post again…i can’t believe this…it’s ruined ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *runs around screaming*

  • Unusally Optimistic Fan

You argue that this would be undermining the intelligence of viewers. But have you thought about how it would actually work? It happens all the time – Vicodin, Morphine, pain killer induced hallucinations ARE realistic I know several people who are more often than not rambling when coming back from the dentist’s office.
You guys just give it a chance. It’s likely to be a couple of lines on a television screen or something. I’m planning on enjoying it.
