EMPHO has produced a brief summary of the prevalence of overweight and obese children in the East Midlands Government Office Region as recorded as part of the National Child Measurement Programme 2007/08. The paper also gives details of significant changes in prevalence between 06/07 and 07/08.

Working in partnership with Cancer Networks, NHS Trusts and other cancer registries, the postholder will have a key role in facilitating successful implementation of a project to obtain cancer data from Multi-disciplinary Teams (MDTs). The post is fixed term for two years (secondments welcome).

Health profiles image Health Profiles 2009 launched.
The fourth annual set of local Health Profiles has been launched. Health Profiles provide a snapshot of health for each council area in England, which enables comparison locally, regionally and in some cases over time. They are designed to help local councils and the NHS decide where to target resources in their area.

Skin Cancer profiles, launched by the South West Public Health Observatory (SWPHO), show rates of malignant melanoma more than doubled between 1985-87 and 2004-06. The Skin Cancer Profiles can be viewed on the Skin Cancer Hub, a new website to promote the prevention and early diagnosis of skin cancer.

It shows the extent of illicit drug use in England and explores the impact across the nine English regions using indicators related to the individual, community and population. The East Midlands Public Health Observatory (EMPHO) is one of nine regional PHOs funded by the Department of Health to strengthen the availability and use of health information at a local level. EMPHO covers the East Midlands Government Office Region.
The Trent Cancer Registry is one of eight regional cancer registries in England and eleven registries across the UK. Trent is responsible for the provision of cancer data and analysis for the East Midlands and South Yorkshire and covers four Cancer Networks (Derby-Burton, Mid Trent, North Trent, and Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland).
In May 2005, the Trent Cancer Registry was merged with EMPHO.
