Grosso: 'Juve what I wanted'
Tuesday 1 September, 2009

Fabio Grosso is overjoyed at completing his transfer to Juventus after a tug-of-war with Lyon. “It is what I wanted.”

The full-back had been linked with the switch for several weeks, but just hours after the club suggested there would be no deal, the two sides agreed a fee for 2m Euros with another 1m in bonuses.

“I am very happy, it is what I wanted for some time and I managed to make it happen,” grinned Grosso on Sky Sport Italia.

The player helped push through the move because Lyon had wanted at least 3m Euros, but he agreed to give up the bonus cash he was owed by the French giants.

“I can’t wait to meet up with my teammates next week, but first I want to win these two games with the Nazionale so we can achieve qualification for the World Cup.”

Grosso is in the squad for Italy’s crunch matches away to Georgia on September 5 and at home with Bulgaria on September 9.

“It is only normal that when you come to a club like Juventus the objective is to be the best. As for the Scudetto battle with Inter, there is time to think about that later.”

The 2006 World Cup winner is the latest reinforcement to the Bianconeri after Diego and Felipe Melo.

“Grosso adds more quality to an already very competitive side,” commented general manager Jean-Claude Blanc.

“[Coach Ciro] Ferrara will have many options and has a player he already appreciated in the Nazionale.

“With this move we conclude the very active Juventus transfer market for the summer, as we are now in the best condition to focus on our sporting objectives.”
