25.08.09 The Hickey Underworld's new video for "Blonde Fire."
“So dark and pant-soilingly twisted, it makes Chris Cunningham’s work look like Beatrice Potter’s. The song is a dirty diamond of grungey, post-hardcore power-pop that suggests The Strokes hanging out with Fugazi” TimeOut UK

ROCK SOUND 9/10
Fronted by Andrew Jackson, former member of both The Murder Of Luxemburg and Scarecrows, House Of Brothers’ second EP has been a long time coming, but blimey, will it knock your socks off now it’s here! Opening with a fair-to-middling rendition of the EP’s title track, it’s from song two, ‘The Twilight Of Idols’, that this record really comes into its own. Showcasing the kind of melodic interplay that instantly fuses with your psyche in a tangible blur of picked guitars and poignant lyricism, each song feels like an instant classic. Simple, elegant and utterly enthralling, this limited edition record is not to be missed.

02.02.09 February release. An exciting month here at Kartel with 3 titles being released in from our French partners at Naive. The first is the excellent debut album from Moriarty "Gee whiz this is a lonesome town". “A ramshackle olde worlde acoustic outfit with a theatrical bent and a tendency to dress like 1930s Prohibition outlaws who make a mess of sound that takes in folk, country, blues, jazz and cabaret.”

03.12.08 Moriarty make their UK debut headline performance this Monday 8 December at Madame Jo Jo's to coincide with their debut single "Jimmy".
This very special occasion, brought together by Kartel, proffers an abundance of blues and psychedlia with label mates Tom Mansi and the Icebreakers making a long awaited London appearance (recently appeared on Mark Lamarr’s Radio 2 session) plus the quasi-country funk-force that are The Moon Music Orchestra perform. Son of Dave will also be spinning records adding to what is already a mouthwatering line up. Mon dieu!
25.11.08 Son of Dave's Wild West Show has arrived. It took ten years to make. It began around 1990 and was finished in 2002. Its unusual. Its not a typical Son of Dave record. The music is inspired by the sounds of country and western radio, Native Canadian powows, cold winters and hot summers. The Alberta oil barrons in their absurd cowboy hats and western suits, Dallas, Elvis, Vegas, all the way up the Red River to the frozen north. From the past and into the space age. An Evangelist screams at us to send in our money. Pre-order your copy exclusively on the Kartel webstore.
