Athens Railways Museum

 The Railway Museum of Athens or differently Museum of the Hellenic Railways, as it constitutes the biggest railway Museum of Greece, was created in 1979. It consists of two main buildings and the front yard which was formed for open-air manifestations, including the  children’s entertaining train.

The entry and the guide in the Museum are FREE.
The exhibition area of the Museum of the Hellenic Railways extends in six halls:
In the A Hall, situated on the ground floor, the following are exhibited:
Hand-driven and foot-driven track motor cars
Topographic tools, drawings, pictures.
In the B Hall, also situated on the ground floor, the following are exhibited:
Steam engines, passenger coaches, hand driven fire pumps and fire extinguishers
Different models of rolling stock, different tables  with technical elements of driven engines
In the C Hall, which functions  on two levels, on the ground floor  and  the floor,
the following are exhibited:
Stations equipment (ticket perforation machines, hand driven ticket printing machines,
old tickets, maps, time-table boards, stamps, trumpets, lanterns, telegraphic machinery
and material, watches, telephonic appliances),
Printed material (shares, contracts, operating regulations, tariff policy leaflets)
Uniforms and uniform accessories (buttons, hats), historic staff pictures.
In the D Hall, which is on the ground floor, the following are exhibited:
A machine –
works with  machinery  manufactured about 1882.
A steam driven boiler, steam driven water pumps, lanterns of steam engines
Different machinery ((drill, hand driven press, etc)
Different steam engine gear (manometers, tachometers, etc.)
Show-window  with rules forms and handbooks of railway companies.
In the E Hall, which is situated on the floor, the following are exhibited:
Furniture, designs, pieces from dinner sets etc. from old royal coaches.
