Story:
Jyothi (Jayasudha), a teenage girl who is in love with Ravi (Muralimohan), suddenly marries Rajayya (Gummadi Venkateswara Rao), an old man who is about her father's age. Everyone thinks she married him for the old man's property that she inherts after the marriage, but truth is different. The secret behind this unexpected marriage forms the rest of the gripping family story.

About the film:
The film was completely shot in and around Hyderabad. (A railway station board in the first scenes of the movie reads "Warangal", but the shooting was done in Hyderabad.) Rajayya's house scenes were shot at Nallakunta (near the railway track at Vidyanagar railway station, beside another writer Late Madireddy Sulochana's house). Vishali's house is the house of the famous architect B.N. Reddy in Banjara Hills. Chakravarthy's house shown in the movie was in Ameerpet, near Sarathy Studios. The film was based on the C. Anandaramam's novel mamatala kOvela, but major changes were made, taking only the basic part. Released as a direct novel released as an Emesco pocket book, the novel itself was not too popular.

This film marks the third film for director K. Raghavendra Rao as well as for the producer Kranthi Kumar. Kranthi Kumar, fresh from the sucess of the film Sarada with K. Viswanath as director opted for Raghavendra Rao, still a newcomer, whom he knew for a long time. The film was a commercial success and won awards to Jayasudha and also to Kranthi Kumar.

Vincent, along with K.S. Prakash, did wonders in black and white, taking the photography to a high level. The shades and lighting used in the movie were very nice. Chakravarthy, who also worked for the producer's then-recent project Sarada, did his one of the career's best melodies with S. Janaki sirimalle puvalle navvu... and neekU naakU peLLanTa with P. Susheela. Also a dubbing artist, the music director speaks for background voice in a scene, and also to a doctor's character (played by Vincent). Dubbing Janaki's voice can be heard for a couple of characters. Somayajulu does a very small role in the film, this being one of his very first films (second?) following the debut with Raaraa Krishnayya!. Rao Gopal Rao, who did a sentimental role in the film Sarada, again gives a wonderful performance as a doctor in this film. Giribabu has a good role and his catch word "First time" became popular at that time.
