Personal Radiation Monitoring Service

Three TLD monitors and finger stall monitor

The Personal Radiation Monitoring Service (PRMS) monitors the exposures of workers in the medical, dental, chiropractic, industrial and mining fields to ionizing radiation.

As radiation doses have a cumulative effect, a register of a worker's doses is maintained for their lifetime. Dose information is provided to the worker to ensure that the recommended dose limit is not exceeded. The register also allows the radiation dose to the population to be determined.

The PRMS uses the well-established thermoluminescent dosimetry technology and our system allows additional measurements to be made to confirm dose measurements.

Our 75 years experience in providing personal monitors to organisations throughout Australia leads us to be able to offer an efficient service that can satisfy your requirements.

The ARPANSA Personal Radiation Monitoring Service is an Australian based government service that fully meets the requirements of all Federal, State and Territory regulations.

The service operates an AS17025 quality system and is accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).

The people assessing the monitors are in Australia and can be contacted by the FREECALL telephone number (1800 678 112). They will be able to answer any queries you may have about reported results.

As the service is situated in Australia, the turnaround times for determining the radiation doses received by the monitors is not dependent on the time required to send the monitors overseas for the measurement and assessment. In fact, in an emergency, we would be able to report results within hours of receipt of the monitors.

Our Personal Radiation Monitoring Service maintains lifetime radiation dose histories for all our clients and our records are kept permanently in a National Archives Office recommended facility.
