Photo of Duchess of Gloucester with Mr Morris on the occasion of Nantwich and Acton Grammar Schools 400th Anniversary (1560 – 1961).
The last major celebration for the school was the 400th anniversary in 1960. On that occasion the school welcomed a Royal Guest – the Duchess of Gloucester – who presented prizes at the school speech day Friday 18th November 1960. The Nantwich Guardian reported the event and noted that the ‘school of ancient history had turned in to one of the most up-to date in the County, catering for all the widely varying needs of individual children.’ Fifty years on the school has continued to evolve changing its name to Malbank School and Sixth Form College but still holding to the principles expressed in that article. In 2010 the school celebrates its 450th Anniversary.
The school is producing a calendar of images (Malbank: ‘past and present’) and an exhibition showing the school’s history. Have you any photographs, old uniforms, memorabilia or memories that could be shared with others? We are also looking to renew old friendships with other events during the forthcoming year.
If you have any items that can be used, would like to kept informed of forth coming celebration or would like to order a 450th Anniversary calendar then please contact the school either by calling 01270 611009 or email us.
We look forward to hearing from you.
