Summer Youth Coaching Series Fourth-year Cal Poly head coach Paul Holocher and the Mustang men’s soccer program recently announced the return of the central coast Summer Youth Coaching Series, a free round of instructional seminars developed for both the experienced and novice manager.
Constructed to help youth coaches run training sessions more efficiently, practically and successfully, the seminars will focus on, among other topics, practice warmup drills, passing exercises aimed at developing the two-footed player, possession games to enhance an attractive style of play, finishing games to incorporate successful offensive outcomes and goalkeeping drills for defensive engagement. A question-and-answer discussion follows each seminar. Dates, times and locations for each of the seven seminars are listed below. Prospective participants are requested to reserve a spot by contacting Holocher at (805) 756-7070 or pholoche@calpoly.edu. All coaches who attend one of the seminars will receive a free ticket voucher for Cal Poly’s Sept. 20 match against San Jose State at 1 p.m. inside Alex G. Spanos Stadium. During the match, attending coaches will be given a pregame, halftime and postgame insider’s clinic and tactical breakdown with the Mustang coaching staff. Founder of the Catalyst Soccer Club, Holocher directed the 2008 Mustang squad to the program’s first NCAA Tournament victory at the Division I level and matched a school record with 11 victories. Cal Poly opens the 2009 campaign Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. inside Alex G. Spanos Stadium versus UNLV. Summer 2009 Youth Soccer Coaching Series
