In 2008, Cheryl Bart and her 23 year old daughter Nikki Bart were the first ever mother/daughter pair to reach the world’s tallest summit, Mount Everest. Together they also became the first mother/daughter duo to complete the “Seven Summits” challenge: climbing the highest peak of every continent. Cheryl also climbed Cho Oyu in the Himalayas, 8,201m, the sixth highest mountain in the world, as well as many high altitude peaks around the world.
In 2008, she and her daughter received the Australian Geographic Spirit of Adventure Awards. In 2009 Cheryl was also recognized in the Australian Day Honors List as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO). In addition to many mountaineering challenges, Cheryl is a lawyer and company director. She is Chairman of the South Australian Film Corporation, the Adelaide Film Festival and the EPA. She is also a non-executive Director on a number of boards including Spark Infrastructure Ltd, ETSA Utilities (since 1995), ANZ Trustees Limited, AER Foundation and Growth Properties Limited. Cheryl is also involved in a range of charitable activities and is an ambassador for the Peres Centre for Peace. Cheryl has a Bachelors degree in Law and Commerce and is a mother of two.
