Video: Rain Machine: "Give Blood"

Video: Rain Machine: "Give Blood"

Director Petro's video for Rain Machine's fiery blues jam "Give Blood" starts out simply enough: TV on the Radio member and Rain Machine main man Kyp Malone rocking the living fuck out of a clean, well-appointed hotel room. But as the video rolls along, we come to find out that Malone is stashing half the population of Williamsburg under his bed, as well as a succession of freaky stop-motion creatures.

The video is streaming over on Rolling Stone right now.

Echo Chamber: Fiery Furnaces' Matthew Friedberger

Echo Chamber: Fiery Furnaces' Matthew Friedberger

"'Oh, please listen to our new song about Harry Patch'. Fuck you! You brand yourself by brazenly and arbitrarily associating yourself with things that you know people consider cool. That is bogus. That's a put-on. That's a branding technique, and Radiohead have their brand that they're popular and intelligent, so they have a song about Harry Patch."

-- The Fiery Furnaces' Matthew Friedberger is not a big fan of Radiohead's "Harry Patch (In Memory Of)". (via Spinner)

UPDATE: According to Matthew Friedberger's publicist, Friedberger thought the Spinner interviewer was asking about Harry Partch, not Harry Patch.

Watch Ted Leo's Misfits Tribute Show

Ted Leo IS Glenn Danzig Watch Ted Leo's Misfits Tribute Show

When Monsters of Folk dressed up as Kiss at a Halloween show, it was awesome. But you know what just might be an even better group costume than Kiss? The motherfucking Misfits. Cheaper. Tougher. Better songs. Slightly less fear of smudging makeup.

On Halloween night in Philadelphia, Ted Leo gathered some friends and did the Monsters of Folk one better. They played two entire sets as the Misfits. And yes, there are videos of it online now.

You're welcome.

Neil Young Preps Live Archival Album

Neil Young Preps Live Archival Album

Lately, Neil Young has been making a project out of releasing old live recordings in album form. That worked pretty well when he dug deep into his ancestral past, as on last year's Sugar Mountain: Live at Canterbury House 1968 and 2007's Live at Massey Hall. Next month, we'll find out what happens when Young taps into his body of relatively recent work.

On December 8, Reprise will release the CD version of Young's Dreamin' Man Live '92. (The vinyl version will arrive on January 12.) The album includes live versions of every song on Young's stripped-down, low-key 1992 album Harvest Moon. The tracks on Dreamin' Man come from solo acoustic performances that Young did before Harvest Moon's release.

The tracklist-- which, blessedly, does not feature the songs in the same order as they appear on Harvest Moon-- is below. UPDATE: You can stream the Dreamin' Man version of "Dreamin' Man" here.

Joker Books North American Tour

Joker Books North American Tour

Most tour itineraries don't take people from Bucharest to Asheville, North Carolina in the span of four days. But Joker is not like most people.

The dubstep prodigy and man of few words has announced a North American tour, which will find him zig-zagging wildly all over the continent. But before that tour kicks off later this month, he'll bring his chest-exploding bass and singular melodic sensibility to gigs in Europe. Thanks to Audio Video Radio for the tip.

Check below for dates.

Stone Roses' Ian Brown Arrested on Suspicion of Spousal Abuse

Stone Roses' Ian Brown Arrested on Suspicion of Spousal Abuse

File under: Incredibly uncool. BBC News reports that on Monday morning, British police arrested former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown on suspicion of spousal abuse. Brown's wife made the allegations after police responded to a call about a disturbance. Brown is currently out on bail until December.

Once upon a time, the Stone Roses made an incredible album.

The band's fifth studio LP is due early next year from Mute.

New Spoon: "The Mystery Zone"

UPDATE: Song has been removed! New Spoon: "The Mystery Zone"

As you know, uber-dependable indie megastars Spoon have a new album on the way: Transference, due January 26 in North America via Merge and January 25 in Europe via Anti-.

And now "The Mystery Zone", track number three from that hotly anticipated LP, is out there, making the internet rounds and making our collective Wednesday that much more endurable.

"The Mystery Zone" is exactly the kind of thing we've come to expect from Spoon: A tersely suave and undeniably catchy indie rock song with production flourishes in exactly the right places.

UPDATE: Song has been removed!

Check it out on the Hype Machine (via We All Want Someone to Shout For).
