Recent Success
Since 1980, Centre football has achieved another high level
of excellence with 13 conference championships including a
crown in 2003. In addition, Centre has had 12 All-American
representatives since 1984. Also, in 1999, Teel Bruner, a
1985 graduate, was elected to the College Football Hall of
Fame. Bruner is Centre's second inductee, joining Bo McMillin
in the hall. Additionally, Centre football players have been
named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Most Valuable
Player 12 times since 1989, including stand-out Adam Clark in 2005 and former Colonel running back Lorenzo Engleman in 2003. Centre has also dominated the all-conference
team with 159 first-team selections since 1980. In 2004 David Crowley, a 2005 grad, was one of 10 finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy, given to the nations top Division III player. In addition,
Cam Demmerle, a 2000 grad, was awarded the National Football
Foundation's Scholar Athlete of the Year Award in New York
City; in 2007 Chad Riney was a semi-finalist for this same award. Since the inception of the Aztec Bowl in 1998, the game which pits NCAA Division III All-Stars against Mexico's All-Star team, Centre has placed four players on Team USA. Most recently, Tyler Moody, a safety from Cincinnati Colerain, played a part in 2007's USA victory.

that have been awarded to the players and coaches over the
years, are evidences of a special spirit that imbues Centre
College football. The current coaches and players continue
to build on this tradition of excellence in pursuit of an
even more glorious future.
