Jamaal Tinsley: Pacers Waive Tinsley
Update: Tinsley was waived on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Tinsley will be a free agent if he clears waivers. Tinsley has averaged 10.4 points and 7.0 assists during his career. Tinsley battled injuries and legal problems throughout his stay in Indy and was not allowed to play last year.
Chris Bosh: Raptors Sign Bosh's Former College Roommate
Update: The signing of Jarrett Jack, who was roommates with Bosh for his one season at Georgia Tech, could be as much an attempt to convince Bosh to stay in Toronto as it is to improve the team on the court, the Toronto Star reports.
Analysis: Bosh, for his part, is excited to have Jack at his side for at least one more season. "I'm really happy to see him. He's a really good friend to me, and that'll make it easier, and he can play ball, too. It's like killing two birds with one stone, he's a good dude, a good locker room guy and he can ball. Any time you can have that, it's a good thing." Bosh likely won't sign a new deal until the offseason, but the Raptors are doing everything they can to convince him to remain in Toronto.
Ramon Sessions: Talking With New York
Update: Knicks president Donnie Walsh met with Sessions' agent on Tuesday, and the two sides will continue to talk, the New York Post reports.
Analysis: The Knicks are monitoring the situation with Andre Miller as well. And they appear to be in a good position as the market for point guards is drying up, after the Clippers acquired Sebastian Telfair on Monday. The Bucks could match any offer made to Sessions, but they may be all set at point guard with rookie Brandon Jennings and Luke Ridnour.
Yao Ming: Surgery is a Success
Update: Yao underwent surgery Tuesday morning to repair the hairline fracture in his left foot and another to realign the bones in the foot, the Houston Chronicle reports. The realignment procedure was done to prevent the recurrence of the injury that has ended his past two NBA seasons. "Everything went according to plan, and we were able achieve not only fixation of the broken bone, but also realignment of the bones to improve the stress pattern on his foot," Rockets team physician Tom Clanton said.
Analysis: Yao will be in a cast and on crutches for eight weeks. The Rockets did not provide any timetable for Yao's return to basketball-oriented workouts or competition, but they do expect him to participate in the 2010 training camp. His prospects for the upcoming season are dim.
