2007-08 Season Highlights:
Celenza returned to the playing field and scored two goals in each of his first two games back from injury (the 14-6 win over New Jersey, 4/4/08 and the 16-8 win over Chicago, 3/29/08)... Celenza played in the 200th game of his career when the Blast played in Orlando (2/9/08)... He scored one goal in New Jersey (1/11/08) to record the 300th point of his career (he is one of just 10 players in Blast history to record more than 300 points for the club).
Career Highlights:
2006-07 Season: Celenza only played in nine games due to groin and leg injuries... He scored three goals in the first five minutes of the Blast’s 18-12 win over the Chicago Storm (11/11) and was named MISL Offensive Player of the Week for his performance... He recorded two two-point goals in the season opener in Detroit (11/4).
2005-06 Season:Celenza ranked fifth in the MISL with 46 points and was named First-Team All-MISL… He ranked second on the Blast in points... Celenza led the MISL in goals (38), first goals (six) and power play goals (eight)… He tied to lead the League in game-winning goals (five)... He recorded multiple points in 15 of 29 games and had at least one point in 22 games... He recorded one goal and one assist in the 2006 MISL All-Star Game (2/11 in Milwaukee)… He was named MISL Offensive Player of the Week (1/9).
2004-05 Season:Celenza was named Second Team All-MISL after leading the Blast and ranking fifth in the MISL in points (49) … He also tied for second in the MISL in power-play goals (eight) and tied to rank third in the League with 32 goals... Celenza recorded two hat tricks (1/29 and 12/4)... He recorded two goals in St. Louis (1/2) to hit the 200-point mark for his career... He was named MISL Offensive Player of the Week (10/17) after leading the Blast with two goals and one assist (three points) in the 5-3 win over San Diego (10/16).
2003-04 Season:Celenza ranked third on the Blast in points (46) and broke onto the top 20 on the franchise points list... He was named MVP of the 2004 MISL All Star Game after recording a hat trick and one assist to lead Team USA to a 10-1 win over Team International... Celenza played in the 100th game of his career (2/21)… He recorded two hat tricks (2/22 vs. Cleveland and 1/2 vs. Kansas City).
2002-03 Season: He ranked fifth on the Blast in points (40)... He scored the 50th goal of his career against the Comets (1/24). 2001-02 Season: Celenza recorded points in 28 of the 40 games he played and ranked among the league's top 20 point scorers (77 points)... He recorded the first hat trick of his career against the KiXX (2/13).
2000-01 Season:Celenza signed a developmental contract on February 22... He scored at least one point in seven of the 12 games in which he played... Three of his six goals were game-winners... His first Blast game was against Philadelphia (2/25) and he scored the game-winning goal in the 12-10 victory.
College:
A two-time Northeast Conference Player of the Year, he ranked fourth in the nation in scoring and fifth in goals heading into the conference tournament his senior year at UMBC... Celenza led the Retrievers to two consecutive NEC championship games and a 34-6-1 record in two years... He recorded 100 points at UMBC (41 goals and 18 assists), to become the second leading scorer in school history.
Personal:
Celenza graduated from UMBC with a degree in Sociology in December, 2003... He attended Essex Community College before transferring to UMBC... He was inducted into the UMBC Sports Hall of Fame in February of 2006... He and his wife, Beverly, live in Middle River and have a two-year-old daughter named Mackenzie... He grew up in Highlandtown and graduated from Archbishop Curley High School... Celenza won a youth National Championship in 1997 with his Columbia City United team... He also works in the Secondary Mortgage Department at 1st Mariner Bank.
