Tilley Leaves Henredon

Tom Tilley Leaves After Two Years at Henredon Helm as Furniture Brands International Shifts Business Model

July 2008
Tom Tilley has left Henredon after two years as president in a move parent Furniture Brands International (FBI) linked to soft industry conditions.

Tilley joined Henredon two years ago after serving as president of FBI’s Thomasville unit since mid-2003. FBI Spokesman John Hastings said soft industry conditions were a factor in the elimination of the position, as well as those of Dave Parker (vice president of international sales) and Russell Towner (senior vice president of sales). Hastings also said the departures come as the company’s contract to produce Ralph Lauren’s signature collection is coming to an end after 15 years.

Rather than hiring a new Henredon executive, FBI said Tilley’s duties will be taken up by Dan Bradley, president of the FBI Designer Group that also includes Hickory Chair, Laneventure, Maitland-Smith and Pearson.

Furniture Brands is in the midst of moving toward an operating company model in which its once largely autonomous brands will share back office and other functions.

Having watched FBI companies 'strike out' with 'hot shot' retailers in So. California on numerous occasions, I'm hoping they will now consider long term marketing and loyalty solutions.
