Paweł Wypych - Secretary of State

Born on 20 February 1968 in Otwock; graduate of the Institute of Social Prevention and Rehabilitation and of the History Department at the Warsaw University. Paweł Wypych completed postgraduate studies in organization of social aid at the Journalism and Social Sciences Department of the Warsaw University and postgraduate studies in public administration management at the Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management. Graduate of Human Rights School at the Helsinki Foundation of Human Rights.

 

In 1996 Paweł Wypych took the office of assistant in the Department of Criminology at the Institute of Legal Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Three years later he was nominated Director of the Warsaw Centre for Family Support. From 2002 to 2005 he acted as Director of the Social Policy Bureau in the Office for the Capital City of Warsaw.

 

In December 2005 the Chairman of the Council of Ministers appointed him Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled Persons and Secretary of State in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the position held by him until the end of August 2006. From September 2006 to November 2006 Paweł Wypych was Coordinator in the Office for the Capital City of Warsaw acting as Deputy President. In December 2006 he assumed the position of Chief Advisor to Prime Minister in the Chancellery of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers. From February 2007 to June 2007 he held the office of Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers responsible for supervising Social Insurance Institution. Deputy Head of the Interministerial Team for Supervision of Social Insurances. On 1 June 2007 Prime Minister appointed him Head of Social Insurance Institution – a function he performed until 26 November 2007.

 

From 1987 to 1999 Paweł Wypych was a scout instructor, then the highest scout instructor in the Scouting Association of the Republic of Poland. From 1990 – 2003 he acted as councillor for the City of Warsaw.

 

On 11 December 2007 he was nominated advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland. Paweł Wypych is married and has two children.
