We can tell you this: You’ll need to sign up for an account at Travian - their advertising sponsor. Register and verify the account, after which you’ll need to PM a member (read the topic in the IRC channel) with your username and verification number, plus email (so he can invite you).
We’ll keep updating this post with additional info.

pathetic perhaps yes.
but at least they are not selling accounts for hard cash. but its almost the same, except the users dont have to pay anything to get in, only a signup.
but i hardly doubt that they need the cash hehe, big sites such as these have and gets tons of cash, and if they dont, then they are doing something completely wrong.
and i am basing this on the fact of a much much smaller site that does not sell anything only accept donations, and they have enough ++ on the account to run the site for several years.
so i guess tl only does this in order to fill their pockets.

Yeah, even though TL is a pretty good site in regards to speed/leechers/content, it’s known to the torrent community as a money making site (Some go as far as calling it a scam). And by this they mean that the people running it are the ones ending up with the money. Yeah it costs money to maintain the servers and stuff, but they end up with a lot money after paying their bills.

Agreed, with TL - I haven’t had an invite in months on a 3 TB (upload) account. I’ve had a total of just two invites given to me. But they have no problems opening up IRC signups. MeGads this smacks of P2L. But conveniently disguised.

who cares if they’re making money off this - you’re not going to be paying it are you? just their sponsor. so get off your fucking high horses. TL don’t _have_ to open their doors, but they decided if you really want to get in then they’re gonna get something out of it. - and who can blame them? it’s practically money for free for them.
TL is one of the best scene sites around (i don’t really use any others now) and if you decide not to take them up on this offer because of your so-called morals, then quite frankly - you are a fool.

Well when I got there the “special” was over and I got the same message. If you join #pussytorrents the topic says invite period is over. Prolly that’s why I guess.

It is just an attempt to make money.
Sure they make enough to run the site and have some spending cash (No idea how much), but just like everyone else would be they aren’t going to say “Ok, this is enough money”, no they are going to try and make more. Giving invites if you join the game where they get money from advertising will pull in some more cash without making the members pay.
But its sad to see such a prestigious private site give away invites so easily just for some money.
