BOLTON CONSIDER PETER REID SWOOP

REID: Prime Candidate

Thursday December 31,2009

By Matthew Dunn

PETER REID could be set for a return to front-line Premier League management for the first time in more than six years as Bolton begin their search for a replacement for Gary Megson.

Reid, a former Bolton legend, currently assistant to Tony Pulis at Stoke, made 225 appearances for the club in the Seventies and Eighties and is the prime candidate for a vacancy that arose when fans turned up a notch their campaign to oust Megson, who had never been popular at the Reebok stadium.

Megson was given his marching orders yesterday morning by chairman Phil Gartside following a 2-2 draw with Hull on Tuesday.

Reid is the opposite to Megson in terms of his standing with supporters, but the overriding concern is to keep the club in the Premier League.
