TONY BLAIR: The ex-British PM will give public evidence at the Iraq inquiry

TONY BLAIR: The ex-British PM will give public evidence at the Iraq inquiry.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will give public evidence at an inquiry into the Iraq war. John Chilcot, head of a five-strong panel investigating the role of the UK in the invasion and occupation of Iraq from 2003, made the announcement amid accusation the inquiry was being too soft on potential witnesses. According to Reuters, he said: "We have not been trying to ambush witnesses or score points. This is a serious inquiry. We are not here to provide public sport or entertainment. In the hearings so far, a huge amount of valuable and illuminating evidence has been uncovered." Among the revelations made so far was that the UK had intelligence days before the invasion that Iraq had dismantled its chemical weapons.
