In pictures: Camp X-Ray prisoners
The US Government has released several official photographs of inmates in the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, where the United States is holding 110 suspected members of the Taleban and Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network.
The pictures, which initial reports suggested were taken as the detainees arrived at the base, sparked controversy. Some human rights groups said the pictures were reminiscent of scenes of torture during the Cold War. Washington argues that the captives are being treated humanely, stressing that they are extremely dangerous people.
 The prisoners are shown on arrival wearing goggles, ear muffs, masks and gloves, which the US said are a "security precaution"
 Washington has denied the captives "prisoner-of-war" status, but maintains their conditions are humane
 Each prisoner has been issued with a jumpsuit, sandals, flask and shampoo
 Critics however say the conditions for the suspects are below US standards for convicted prisoners
 The men are kept in cells measuring 1.8m by 2.4m, which are open to the elements
 The suspects have not been allowed lawyers, and it is unclear when or if they will be allowed legal advice.
 Despite the concerns, the camp is being expanded to take in hundreds more detainees
