Arizona puts Ware on injured reserve, signs kicker

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -The Arizona Cardinals have placed safety Matt Ware on injured reserve and signed kicker Mike Nugent.

Ware, a backup who played in "nickel'' defense situations, injured his right knee in Monday night's 23-9 loss at San Francisco. He is in his sixth NFL season, the last four with Arizona.

Nugent was signed because Neil Rackers has been bothered by a groin injury.

Nugent was released by Tampa Bay on Oct. 5 after he missed two field goals in a 16-13 loss to Washington. He signed with the Buccaneers as a free agent after four seasons with the New York Jets.
