Since viewers first got to know Nicole "Snooki" Pretruzzi at the beginning of MTV's reality hit series Jersey Shore, she's had one drama after another. But long before she was hanging in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, with the likes of Paulie D and "The Situation," Snooki dealt with serious health issues.

The 21-year-old revealed on a recent episode of the reality show that she had previously suffered from an eating disorder. "In high school, I really wouldn't eat," Snooki told The Insider. "I would only have lunch, and I would only have salads. It got so crazy that I would only eat a cracker or a cucumber a day and I would feel full. I would go into the nurse's office every day, and I would weigh myself. When she realized that I hit 80 pounds, she was like, 'This isn't good.'"

The nurse eventually alerted Snooki's parents, who stepped in to help. "My parents told me, 'You need to eat, this is very dangerous,'" the 4'9" reality star said, "So I gained my weight back to like 98, where I always was."

Snooki's weight continued to be an issue for her, after one of her Jersey Shore roommates made fun of her for it. Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has since apologized for his remarks.

"I regret saying it because I have a sister and a mother, but at the same time, everything happened so quickly and that is what happened," he told UsMagazine.com.
