Maharaja Theme Park
This theme park located close to the Neelambuur bye-pass on the Coimbatore-Salem national highway will be the nearest entertainment gateway for the people of Coimbatore whose only source of relaxation all these years was the VOC park in the heart of the city. Maharaja Theme Parks is a most attractive features of the theme parks from not only within India but also from outside without losing sight of the fact that these should provide an affordable experience to the public. Apart from having the common entertainment facilities, would have a multiplex with two theatres. It would also house a mini golf course and an auditorium. The entry fee is Rs 350 for adults and Rs 300 for children. A discounted entry fee from school children visiting as a group during weekdays was also on the cards. Park timing 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
The Crocodile Farm
Crocodile farm at Amaravathi Dam is just 25 kms from Udumalpet. This place is being developed as a District Excursion Centre. Camera is not allowed.
It is located 30 kms from Coimbatore via. Narasipuram village. It is a fine picnic spot for trekkers. A perennial waterfalls is a major attraction here.
Named after the great freedom fighter V.O.Chidambaram, this park is maintained by the Corporation. There is a mini-zoo and toy train in the park. Very recently to remind of the animals which lived in the past, Dinosaur Park has been created. This park has all animals which lived several hundred years ago. Every evening there is a colourful water fountain show. Children flock to this park to enjoy sight seeing.
Annual Car Festival
The annual Car Festival is celebrated with all pomp and pageantry. The whole City's atmosphere is changed and people from far and near gather to have the "Darshan" of deity in the beautifully decorated car during this festival.
Aliyar Dam was constructed in 1962 across the Aliyar river. It is located about 65 Km from Coimbatore and it is found on the foothills of Valparai. Here, Aliyar lake receives water from upper aliyar reservoir through hydro-electric power station in Navamali and the Parambikulam reservoir through a contour canal. Near Aliyar dam, a good-looking park, an aquarium and a mini theme park is being maintained by Tamilnadu Fisheries Corporation. Ambarambalayam Darga is situated at the banks of the river Aliyar.
This darga is situated on the banks of the river aliyar. A lot of devotees from Kerala and Tamilnadu visit this Darga with a belief that evil spirits will get away.
Special permission must be sought to visit this place. Hydro Electric plant at Kadamparai between Pollachi and Valparai is most worth seeing. Many wild species are found frequently in this region. It's speciality lies in the fact that it is carved out within a single rock, which gives an astonishing view.
Mahalingapuram-Round Road alais Round Tana
This Round Road is located in Mahalingapuram colony, and it is the most favourite place for joggers, walkers, volleyball, Basketball and batmitton players. The place is the called a get-together place for all the community from Pollachi town. This Round Road park opens early morning 5 a.m and most of the people come to walk and exercise. This place has a play ground for kindergarten children. The place also features with Jawaharlal Nehru statue.
Aanamalai Wildlife Sanctuary
This sanctuary is situated at an altitude of 1,400 metres in the Western ghats near Pollachi. The area of the sanctuary is 958 Sq. kms. It has various kinds of exotic fauna like Elephant, Gaur, Tiger, Panther, Sloth Bear, Pangolin, Black headed oriole, Green Pigeon and Civet cat. The Amaravathy reservoir in the Aanamalai has a large number of crocodiles. Arrangements are available at Topslip to take tourists around the Sanctuary on elephant back or by van.
It is near to the entrance of the Sholayar range is a place of great scenic beauty. Here, the water plunges from a height of nearly 80 feet before joining the Chalakudi river. This picturesque spot is adjacent to dense green forest, and is a part of Chalakudi River, 80 Kms. from Valparai towards Chalakudi, Kerala.
This falls is situated within Sholayar Estate (I Division-opposite to Muneeswaran Temple) of Ms. Jayshree Tea Industries Ltd., (Birla group) just 2 kms away from Valparai.
Carver Marsh Statue
Mr. G.A. Carver Marsh's (who is the Father of Valparai Hills) statue exists in the Pollachi, Valparai ghat at Road Kavarkal Estate. From here one can see the beautiful scenic beauties which include the huge Velonie Valley and the Parambikulam Reservoir.

Karamadai Annai Vellankanni Church

Loam's View Point
This is situated at the ninth hAirpin bend with view point facilities. Named as Loam's View point as Mr. Mathew Loam was the first person who has marked the Road in 1886 from Aliyar to Sirikundra. Still the same Road is being used by the public.
Lower Nirar dam

Nallamudi Poonjolai Valley
This valley is situated in Anaimudi Estate of Ms. BBTC Ltd. The reason behind naming it as Anaimudi Estate is very obvious. One can see the highest peak in South India i.e. Anaimudi Peak from here. It will attract lot of tourists as this place has a beautiful view of a huge valley below as well.
This valley is situated in High Forest Estate of Ms. Mahavir Plantations Ltd. From this valley, Iddliyar, Soorya Malai and the Hill Tribes' settlement area can be viewed. This place has got historical importance as this is situated on the border of erstwhile Madras State and Travancore Kingdom. Even today, it marks the border between Coimbatore District on Tamil Nadu side and Iduki and Thrissur districts on Kerala side.
Oldest Teak Tree
One of the oldest teak trees more than 500 yrs. old is still alive in Sheikalmudi forest area of Valparai Taluk, which measures 90 feet height and 23.5 feet girth.
Parambikulam National Park
It is a reservoir of tranquil greenery ensconced in a valley between the Aanamalai ranges of Tamil Nadu and the Nelliampathy ranges of Kerala. The areas hilly and rocky, drained by several rivers, including the Parambikulam, the Sholayar and the Thekkedy. Thickly forested with stands of bamboo, sandalwood, rosewood and teak, the sanctuary has some marshy land and scattered patches of grassland. Parambikulam was once home to some of south India's finest stands of teak. Little remains of the original teak forests, other than the famous Kannimari teak tree, the largest in Asia as most of these have now been replaced by teak plantations. The tree is about 5 km from Thunakadavu, and is one of Parambikulam's prime attractions .The one of the oldest and largest teak trees in the world is another attraction in the sanctuary. It has a girth of 6.52 metres, height of 48.25 metres when the measurement was taken in 2003.
This is the second highest masonry dam (345 feet) in Asia, which is 24 kms away from Valparai and the beautiful Athirampalli Falls (Kerala State) just 80 kms away. The length of the dam measures about 6-7 km. This dam is constructed in Chalakudy river. Being situated on the border of Kerala State, this place always attracts tourists not only from Tamilnadu but also from Kerala.
This valley is situated between Waterfall Estate and Attakatti after 27 th hAirpin bend. From here one can view the scenic beauties of the evergreen forests surrounding Upper Aliyar Reservoir and also the wind mills situated in Udumalpet area.
Upper Nirar Dam
This dam is situated in Chinnakallar which is 18 kms from Valparai. Lawson falls is just 2 kms away from here. This place and the surrounding reserve forests are real attractions to the naturalists.
Marudhamalai Hills Arulmigu Subramanyaswamy Temple is situated at a height of about 500 feet in a plateau on the Western Ghats, 15 km. north west of Coimbatore, amidst lush vegetation and salubrious climate. Buses run by the Devasthanam, very nominal charge. Hill : dedicated to Lord Muruga is classified under Kunruthoradal, one of the six main abodes of the god. Set against the backdrop of hazy blue hills dotted with shrubs and bushes of varied hues, the sacred shrine verily reflects the picture of Lord Muruga, magnificently mounted on his vehicle peacock, flaunting and swaying its feathers and plume in full bloom. As the mountain here abounded in marudham trees, it came to be known as Marudhachalam. Marudhamalai is also called Marundhumalai, for it is overgrown with shrubs and bushes of medicinal properties.

Karamadai Ranganathar Temple
Dedicated to Lord Ranganatha, this is the second oldest temple in Coimbatore. It was built by the Vijayanagara Kings.
In the olden days for every Shiva Temple, there would be a guarding deity in its northern boundary. According to legendry Arulmigu Koniamman Temple is supposed to be of this style, on the northern side of Kottai Easwaran Temple. The history of the temple and deity dates back to 13th Century A.C. A leader of a small cult known as "IRULAS" six hundred years ago built the temple situated in the heart of the City. The small village was also named "Covanputhur" after the leader of this group, whose name was "Covan". According to the "Cholan Poorva Pattayam" in the Madras oriental manuscript library this Covanputhur later changed as Coimbatore. This ancient temple was situated in the north of Coimbatore near Sanganur stream. Later when there was a fear "Chera" invasion the illangosar tribe which was ruling at that time, built a new fort and to guard this fort, they built a temple and named the predominant deity as Koniamman of this temple. After the tribes ruling came to an end, the temple also had a sluggish period. Realizing the importance of this temple, during the Mysore dynasty one of its kings renovated the temple and conservated the Devi Koniamman in the style of "Mahisasura- mardhini". From then on until today goddess Konniamman blesses her people with love and grace. The people of Coimbatore have strong belief in the powers of this goddess. The deity grants her followers, whatever they want when they pray her with all sincerity and faith. The sculptural beauty of the present statue is marvelous. Located near Townhall, Coimbatore.
Kulanthai Velayuthaswamy Temple
This temple is located 24 kms from Coimbatore. It is one of the most beautiful temples and was built around 750 years ago. The architectural aspects of this temple are fabulous. This temple is situated on a hill covered with kurunda trees and hence it got it name "Kurunda Malai". The natural scenaries around this temple adds beauty to this temple. Thandu Mariamman Temple
This temple is located at 2 kms from Coimbatore Railway station. The temple was built during the period of Tippu Sultan. This temple has got a very unique origin. The story behind its origin goes in this way. Thandumariamman appeared in the dream of a soldier of Thippu Sultan and said she has been living in the forest for very long time, the following morning that soldier went to the forest in search of the goddess and found her beside a Neem tree. Overjoyed by the goddess's dharisanam, he showed her to his countrymen and finally the temple was built in that place. Soon the news spread allover and was worshipped by the name ThanduMariamman.
Velliyangiri Andavar Temple

Arulmigu Alagunachiamman Koil
It is located at Pollachi. It was built by group of people who were living in Valliarachal (80 km from Pollachi). Formation of this temple is due to the theft of statue of their family God (Arulmigu Alagunachiamman) on the river side of Pollachi. So they selected a brick, placed it in the same place and built a small temple. Now this temple was rebuilt in the year 2002.
Arulmigu Sulakkal Mariamman Thirukoil
This temple is located on Coimbatore - Pollachi Road, 32 kms from Ukkadam. 'Sulakkal' was near the dense forest. The inhabitants of Sulakkal and other villages nearby usually send their domestic animals to the forest for their feed. One villager's cow alone was not yielding milk all of a sudden. On suspicion, one day he followed his cow to the forest. He noticed that his cow was shedding milk on the Sand-Hill. When he approached the cow it started running and got its feet hit by the Sand-Hill. Much to his surprise he saw blood oozing out from the Sand-Hill. On the very same day Goddess appeared in his dream and asked him to raise a temple known as Arulmigu Sulakkal Mariamman temple. Arulmigu Shree Velayudhaswamy Thirukoil - Senjarimalai
This temple was originally built by 'Karikala Chola' and renovated by Veerapallalai III dates back to 13th century. A holy spring called 'Gnanatheertha Sunai' and a sacred tree known as 'Karunochi' can be seen. Here, Lord Muruga came to be worshipped as Manthragiri and Shree Velayudhaswamy.
Arulmigu Maghudeeswaran Temple
Around 1200 years ago, temple for Lord Shiva has been raised here. It is located 18 km away from Pollachi near Ramanamuthalipudur village on the way between Annamalai and Sungam Road. Arulmigu Prachanda Vinayagar Temple
This temple of Lord Ganesha is more than 1000 years old as believed by the local public. Located on the banks of River Aliyar, about 8 kilometers to the south of Pollachi, this temple was in a dilapidated condition about 2 years ago. The renovation work of this temple was initiated by the local public under the leadership of Tmt.Anandhi Elangovan. The renewed looking temple had its first kumbhabhishekam on 9th June 2007. There are signs in this temple to show that the temple deity was Lord Siva initially. What made this temple to become a Ganapathy temple is still unknown. The deity is addressed as 'Prasanda Vinayakan'by the locals; The qualifier appears to be the mispronunciation of the Sanskrit term "Prachanta" which means 'angrylooking'. There should have been temple elephants belonging to this temple in those days. This is evidenced by the naming of that part of the river as 'Anai Gajam' where the flight of steps leading from the temple meet the river.'Anai Gajam'in Tamil means that part of river where water is so deep even to an elephant; the place where the mahouts used to take the elephants for bathing. Due to its natural setting amidst lush green paddy fields, sugarcane fields, and Coconut trees, this temple is growing more and more popular among the devotees of Coimbatore.
