A LOOK BACK AT WONDERCON 2008
The world's fastest cartoonist celebrated the 25th anniversary of
Groo in 2007 with a new mini series for Dark Horse. Sergio
Aragonés has also been named as part of the new writing team on
DC Comics' Will Eisner's The Spirit, along with frequent collaborator
Mark Evanier (also a WonderCon 2008 guest).

One of the most popular writers working in comics today, Kurt Busiek’s
resumé includes the mega hit JLA/Avengers mini-series with
George Pérez. His most recent work has been as the writer on Superman,
a continuation of his famed creator-owned Astro City series,
“The Dark Age, Book 2” and a return to Dark Horse’s Conan series,
for which he won a 2004 Eisner
Award for Best Single Issue.

Mike Choi began his career as Top Cow founder Marc Silvestri's
background assistant in 2003. After a backup story and a fill-in issue,
Choi was made the Witchblade ongoing artist with issue #80,
chosen to reinvigorate Top Cow's flagship title along with veteran
writer Ron Marz. Choi served as the Witchblade artist for two
years and has most recently completed X-23: Target X and several
issues of X-Men for Marvel Comics as part of Top Cow's partnership
with the company.

early 2008.

Popular comics artist Terry Dodson's career is studded with
a number of high-profile series featuring his mastery of the female
form, including Mantra for Malibu Comics, Storm for
Marvel, and Harley Quinn for DC Comics. Currently, he and wife
Rachel -- who inks Terry's work -- are working on the Wonder Woman
series, written by Gail Simone. His work also includes two popular
Spidey series: Spider-Man and the Black Cat: The Evil That Men
Do, and Marvel Knights Spider-Man.

One of comics’ leading inkers for over 30 years, Steve Leialoha
joins fellow Fables-teller Bill Willingham
as a WonderCon special guest. Leialoha started his career in comics
with Star*Reach, produced by Mike Friedrich, one of the founding
fathers of WonderCon. His work includes inking many Marvel Comics
titles and an over 50-issue run as part of the Fables team
for Vertigo.

Best known for his creator-owned project, Kabuki, (published
first by Image Comics and now by Marvel's ICON imprint), David
Mack has also written and drawn Daredevil for Marvel Comics.
Mack's work has garnered nominations for Eagle, Eisner
and Harvey Awards, among others, and he's designed toys and packaging
for companies in Hong Kong, created ad campaigns for Sakura art materials
and illustrated Jazz and Rock albums for Japanese and American labels
and musicians such as Paul McCartney.

publishing venture, Echo, which will premiere at WonderCon.

Celebrating her 60th anniversary as America's favorite fictional reporter,
Noel Neill is the Lois Lane. Noel first took on the
role of Superman's girlfriend in the 1948 Columbia serial, and then
revisited the character in the '50s, on the classic Adventures
of Superman TV series co-starring George Reeves and Jack Larson.
Noel's work includes many other film roles, and a new book on her,
Beyond Lois Lane, by Larry Thomas Ward, showcases the actress'
incredible career.

The Eisner Award winning
artist is coming off his biggest year ever. Tim Sale provided
the incredible paintings for the NBC smash series, Heroes,
further cementing its amazing storyline as a live action graphic novel.
In frequent collaboration with writer Jeph Loeb, Sale has produced
definitive additions to the legends of Superman and Batman for DC
comics, and Spider-Man, Hulk, and Daredevil for Marvel. He is currently
wrapping up drawing a story arc for Superman Confidential,
written by fellow WonderCon special guest, Darwyn
Cooke.

We regret to announce that Dan Spiegle will not be able to appear
at WonderCon this year.
Most famous for his work creating the hugely popular sci fi TV series,
Bablyon 5, J. Michael Straczynski recently added to
that series’ legacy with the release of The Lost Tales, which
he wrote, produced and directed. He’s currently wrapping up a 6-year
run on Amazing Spider-Man and relaunching Thor for Marvel.
In the past year, he’s written three films for major studios: World
War Z for Paramount/Brad Pitt; Goliath: The Story of David
for Universal/Akiva Goldsman; and Changeling for Imagine Entertainment,
which is being produced by Ron Howard, directed by Clint Eastwood,
and starring Angelina Jolie.

Ben Templesmith is an Eisner
Award nominated artist and writer most widely known for co-creating
30 Days of Night with Steve Niles, for IDW Publishing and Fell
with Warren Ellis at Image Comics. His other projects include the
critically acclaimed serials Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse, Hatter
M, Singularity 7, and now DeadSpace. He has also worked
on the Star Wars, Army of Darkness, Silent Hill and Buffy:
The Vampire Slayer properties and produces art and design for
music bands, DVDs, toys, and film concept work.

In a relatively short period of time, Bruce Timm has become
a legend in animation. Starting with his work on Batman: The Animated
Series in 1992, Timm has been a part of the DC Universe's jump
to animation ever since, including Superman: The Animated Series,
Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Justice League
Unlimited. In 2007, he produced, co-wrote and co-directed the
first in a series of DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation direct-to-DVD
films, Superman Doomsday. His comics work includes the Eisner
Award winning Batman Adventures: Mad Love, and the mini-series,
Harley and Ivy.

One of the most popular artists of the Marvel Age of Comics, Herb
Trimpe is most famous for his penciling work on The Incredible
Hulk. Other Trimpe projects included Godzilla, Shogun Warriors,
and The 'Nam. In 2002, Trimpe won the Bob
Clampett Humanitarian Award for his work as a chaplain at Ground
Zero at the World Trade Center after the 9-11 terrorist attacks. He's
written a book on his experience, The Power of Angels: Reflections
of a Ground Zero Chaplain.

Coming up on 25 years of working in comics as both a writer and artist
(his first major series, Elementals, debuted in 1984 from Comico),
Bill Willingham won two Eisner
Awards (Best Short Story and Best Anthology) in 2007 for his writing
work on Fables, the popular Vertigo series. Willingham has
also written DC Comics’ Shadowpact and is currently writing
a mini series featuring the DCU villains, Salvation Run.

is best known for his creation DMZ, along with artist Riccardo
Burchielli. Wood's other work includes the new Vertigo series Northlanders,

Cloonan and will be republished in 2008 by Vertigo.
