Sally Webster's breast cancer plot
Coronation Street's resident love rat Kevin Webster is about to face an agonising dilemma when he discovers his wife Sally has breast cancer.
The plot will see love cheats Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Molly Dobbs (Vicky Binns) getting closer, prompting Molly to demand a decision about their future.
Then Kevin will be floored by the news that Sally (Sally Whittaker) is battling the illness.
The mechanic has to decide whether to continue see his business partner's other half, or focus on supporting his own spouse through her ordeal.
The storyline has stirred up memories for actress Sally Whittaker, who admitted she once had a breast cancer scare of her own after finding a lump.
She said: "I was lucky it proved to be nothing but the time spent waiting for results was agonising."
She added: "I am determined to do this storyline justice for all the women out there who are going through what Sally is."
Show bosses are working on the plotline with the help of breast cancer experts and charities.
A spokesman for Coronation Street said: "Breast cancer is a disease which affects so many women and their families. We are keen to ensure that the storyline accurately reflects the many problems and issues faced by breast cancer sufferers."
The scenes are due to air in November.
