On steel framed houses it is important to use materials with good expansion / contraction properties. It is not recommended that sand / mortar mixtures such as Tyrolean or Pebble-dash are used as these can crack with time, allowing water into the main frame of the building and causing RUST.

Most peopel think pre-fab homes are all the same and they are not, there is a vast varriety of different types and construction, which all adds to the compexity on how to access, fix and finish the cladding on your home.

This image shows the reasion they became so popular. They could be quickly constructed and the speed also meant, as you can see in this image, half of the blcok could be finished and people moved in whilst the other half was still under construction.

This image shows a different style, but the principles are the same, but with this image you can see the metal structure, which is the week link in this type of construction. As part of the service Fuller & Sons offer is the checking of these, this is done by exposing the feet of each strut and making sure it is not rusted. In this image you can see the windows and how these are put in before the original cladding, this is why it is best to replace the windows when having the new cladding fitted.

In this image compaired to the one above they are still going strong, but this time you can see how the cladding and new windows transforms these homes.

In this image we see a mix of cladding, slate on the top and brick around the bottom. The brick can be cladding or natural brick. You cant brick all the way up because this type of construction is not strong enough to support the upper story bricks.

Over 50 years ago, 160,000 prefabs were built to ease the housing crisis generated by WWII bombing raids, and the return of thousands of troops. These houses were intended to last only ten years, but thousands are still standing.

After many years of service, ask your self "how can we afford to not renovate our house?.
