  1. Craig says:

That’s a shame. GH is crap. One Life to Live, ABC’s lowest rated soap, is the only one worth watching.

  2. rob says:

Im guessing all ABC soaps had a good week. I would guess since GH averaged 3.05 million and it says all ABC daytime averaged 3.06, AMC is probably the #1 ABC soap again and that OLTL had a big increase.

  3. rob says:

Oh wait the average could include The View. UGH!

  4. Chuck Collins says:

The more interesting detail is that the truth and consequences for CBS is that Drew Carey is no Bob Barker.

  5. MapleLeafer says:

ABC Soaps are slowly turning the corner and could be on their way to a huge bounce back year. All My Children is back to its old self. That show feels like DAYS back in late 2008 when they started to turn the corner on their way to a huge bounce back year. GH has been good ever since the New Year started and they deserve the upswing in the ratings their getting. I hope the one show that benefits big time from this will be OLTL which needs to have a big year in the ratings as they face cancellation in the face. OLTL has been that network’s quality soap the last couple of years.

It says a lot for ABC Soaps to be beating The View in the demos. ABC is smart for keeping their soaps around unlike CBS which would very naked without soaps, they haven’t had one daytime network show outside of Price Is Right that does well and that includes The Early Show.

Good job DAYS, keep that upswing going! A renewal will be coming later this year.

  6. SteveS says:

You should check out AMC, Craig. It’s been much better than OLTL this week. I hope its still ABC’s highest-rated soap!

  7. Dean says:

Since there is no mention whatsoever of AMC and OLTL and this is an ABC press release, I guess the weekly ratings for those two shows were nothing special. Too bad. OLTL and maybe even AMC (with the recent changes) deserve better.

  8. Susan says:

Yay for GH even though the writing is still shakey. OLTL is definitely the better of three ABC Soaps. Please don’t listen to anyone regarding AMC. AMC has some serious issues going on. It’s still the Ryan and Greenlee show, especially now that Fron’s pet Greenlee is back with Fron’s and Greenlee’s true love Ryan. You are setting yourself up for a disappointing hour.

  9. Ray says:

So glad…GH has been really good lately. It is a deserved spike.

  10. TheSoapMaster says:

OLTL is the best show on ABC right now. Despite ‘rumors’ of it being canceled, it’s the ONLY ABC soap that makes the network money. Will Anne Sweeney (ABC Prez) allow Frons (ABC Daytime Prez) to cancel it?
    Don’t count on it.

AMC is on the rebound, thankfully. Too bad temporary Headwriter, Lorraine Broderick, didn’t want the position permanently. I fear for the show under the new hires, David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski. For any fan of AMC, enjoy the next three month…treasure them.

GH seems to be on the rebound too. Creatively, this is the show in the overall worst shape. It has an uber-controlling Executive Producer, who plays favorites, plays games and is one warped b*itch.
She’s outstanding IF she could keep her mouth shut and just produce.
This is the next show that needs a new Headwriter. Guza is coming up on ten years as Headwriter. But, because he’s Frons’ friend, he still has a job long after his creative mind dried up…after the first two years. Any of the staff writers could take over and whip this show in shape.

  11. Hot Pocket says:

AMC should start to see its ratings uptick as the sweeps period goes on.

I can actually watch Ryan and Greenlee scenes. The new HD format is helping making this show easy on the eyes.

Great job GH as it has gotten better lately. Hopefully OLTL finally has a week like this. They do have that huge blizzard storyline going so maybe those results will show up in the ratings one of these next couple of weeks.

  12. Lynn says:

GH had a big aftermath of the reveal last week so one would hope their ratings would rise. But as previous posters have mentioned there is still something off about the writing.

Consider the following: We have characters saying that “Olivia and Sonny were teenagers about twenty years ago” but their kid has got to be about 26 or older because Dante started as a cop six years ago and he is also an undercover cop with the responsibility of (as they said this week) “taking down the biggest mob boss on the Eastern seaboard.” If all that is true he can’t be 20 and, come on, according to that time line Sonny would be 35 and so would Olivia. That might work for her, but Sonny??? And according to the writing they were teenagers at the same time. He wasn’t older. Sonny has been a mob kingpin on the show forever. I guess my point is why did the writers even bother to include a time line.

I do like the idea that they are using the old footage of the Jonathan Jackson and Elizabeth Herbst. On the other hand it is a little odd that Jackson is and looks so much younger than the guys who played Lucky after him. It is as if Lucky had just been kept in Helena’s closet all these years. The other guys were some other guy named Lucky.

Uneven, the GH writing is very uneven.

  13. Elliot says:

Does anyone realize that one reason General Hospital does better than other shows is that it is on when kids get home from school. A better show like One Life to Live cannot get the same ratings because it is on before kids get home from school.

  14. perry says:

any spike gh got, they will lose it just as fast as they got it,due to the insane idea you can shoot a cop on daytime tv,and its all good,gh is total bs,very sad.

  15. perry says:

gh desparetly needs a new head writer.

  16. Julia3 says:

Huge props to General Hospital! I watched all of last week. And I’m LOVING the storyline right now. The acting is phenomenal. It’s like watching a movie as opposed to a soap opera. The Dante/Sonny reveal is definitely exciting and intense. I’m also loving the Dante/Lulu pairing. And the actors ALL deserve huge props. They’ve been rocking the storylines on the show.

  17. PFELIX says:

GH is by far the best soap on tv….I watch the others and love some of them but GH is different, unique, and the best. But I realize there are plenty of people who can’t handle the MOB thing. Sorry but the Mob has lived in Port Chuck forever! It’s always been and will be a big part of the show.

I despise when they can’t keep a timeline or history accurate or when they write way out of character stories like Jason and Sonny turning on eachother, which starts to happen every few years and they realize the mistake just before they go too far….

but mistakes can be forgiven, and timelines fixed…GH rocks and Guza’ll get his groove back…Some newbie will come along and destroy GH…NO THANKS

BTW…yes, Lucky looks much younger but at least they recast with the original (and much beloved) actor which only GH tries hard to do.
