A new iPhone app which tells users how many asbos have been handed to their neighbours has been launched.

The feature lifts information on local nuisances from Government databases before forwarding it on to users.

It has been dubbed "the estate agent's worst nightmare" as it can tip off would-be house buyers about troublesome neighbourhoods.

Technology writer Drew Cullen told The Sun: "It's the quickest way to find out how chavvy your town is."

The app, called Asborometer and based on postcodes, is free to download and works on the iPhone and Google's Android system.

Creator Jeff Gilfelt, 31, said: "Although its name is fun, it has a serious message."
