I kinda of romanticize grinding in my mind at times but I must admit Persona 4 was the best in terms of grinding for me. I didn't have to consciously decide to grind until the very end of the game. The way the game forced me to pace myself in regards to day to day life and exploring the dungeon of the month let me do all my grinding without realizing.

I feel the linear RPG will greatly benefit from doing away with the leveling system all together. I'm not sure how but measuring progress through better tactics is something I look forward to in future games. I always had to suspend disbelief and ignore the fact that fortunately for our heroes the story progression takes them to a straight line from lvl 1 monsters to lvl 50. It would be interesting to see a rpg do away with this progression and instead emphasize something like escaping the enemy in interesting ways for the first twenty hours before being able to take someone down.

Dyson introduced my to doctor who a few weeks ago and the first episode I saw was 'blink' while an amazing episode, it was scary as hell and was probably the wrong episode to be introduced to the series, it brought back the same feelings I had after playing MGS4 as my first metal gear solid game, while the initial experience was amazing my expectations for more have been sabotaged by the fact that I was playing/watching the 'best' in the series and had all the benefits of experiencing something that had been endlessly refined to make it that good. Haha amazing, I loved all the references to ikaruga and go!go! in beedog's house. The animation was really good and the voices were really good too. The story was good but it could have been better, the dialogue dragged on for a bit too much with nothing really happening in my opinion. Doesn't change the fact that I loved it and can't wait to see more. All in all, I thought it was really good for your first time, remarkable really. Keep at it toph <3 <3

I personally feel the same can be said about sports, puzzle, racing, wrpgs, mmorpgs and sim games. The lack of innovation isn't the problem, there does need to be a game changer rpg, just very small innovation with drestically different stories. Stuff like persona thats set in modern day or is able to dating sim aspects. jrpgs should take advantages of other genres like other genres take advantage of the leveling system ... view replies
