The Colne Valley provides the first significant area of countryside to the west of London. It is a mosaic of farmland, woodland and water, with fifty miles of river and canal and over forty lakes. It is a living, working environment, providing employment and homes for many people. It is also a special place, regionally important for recreation and internationally important for wildlife. Much of the land is privately owned, however, large areas are open to the public or accessible through a network of paths.
The Visitor Centre, located in Denham near Uxbridge, is the central information point for the whole of the Colne Valley Regional Park. The centre currently has 30,000 visitors a year and is staffed by volunteers.

There is always plenty do in the Colne Valley Park. Take a look at Things to Do to see details of over 20 different activities. You can sail, canoe, ramble, fish or even fly in the valley. And, of course, there are many attractive places to eat and drink by the lakes and waterways of the park.
