France Chrétien Desmarais is chair of the board of directors of the Canadian Olympic Foundation, a position that automatically earns a seat on the COC's revamped board of directors.

After studies in law and economics at the University of Ottawa, Chrétien Desmarais devoted her time to raising her four children, while continuing to be involved in numerous charitable organizations.

She is co-owner and chairman of Maxi-Crisp Canada Inc., a company which specializes in manufacturing nutritious bars. She also sits on the board of directors of Lombard Odier Inc.

She is also vice-president of the Guy Laliberté Foundation and vice-president of ONE DROP Foundation.

From 2001 to 2008, Chrétien Desmarais was chairman of the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation Board of Directors; she is now member of the board of directors of said Institute and a member of its executive committee.

Chrétien Desmarais sits on the boards of directors of the McGill University International Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviors; the Selwyn House School and she is a governor of the Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific.

She was born in Shawinigan and now lives in Montreal.
