Fish & Richardson is a leading global law firm practicing in the areas of intellectual property, litigation,
and technology law. With more than 400 attorneys and technology specialists in 10 offices in the United States,
and an office in Germany, the firm is unlike any other law firm in the world. Founded in 1878, the firm
represented Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, and the Wright Brothers. For over 130 years we have served great
innovators, helping to protect countless ideas, nurture discoveries, and bring new concepts to market.
The firm prosecuted and litigated many of the fundamental patents of an industrialized America, serving
corporations that created the cutting-edge technologies of the day: the telephone, the air-brake, the steam
turbine, the automobile, and the radio. Frederick Fish, the firm's founder, was for many years the acknowledged
leader of the patent bar of the entire country at a time when patents were more important than they had ever
been. Today, the firm continues to represent great innovators working in cutting-edge technologies and has
redefined IP law for a market that values IP as a fundamental business asset. Fish's elite legal team combines
corporate, technical, and legal expertise to help clients maximize the value of their IP.

Fish is the largest IP firm in the United States
Managing Intellectual Property
named us the largest intellectual property practice in the United States. This is the third year in a row we have
topped this annual survey and it was also the first time that any IP practice
has crossed the 400-practitioners mark. We also have the largest IP practice in any of the four geographic regions included in the
survey -- Asia, Europe, the United States, and Canada.
Fish is #1 in patent litigation
We have ranked number one on this survey for seven out of the eight years since IP Law & Business began
publishing its annual list of the most active patent litigation firms. We were involved in a total of 98 new cases in 2007,
42 percent more cases than our nearest competitor.
Fish is #1 in patent prosecution
We're also number one in prosecution. IP Law & Business
ranked us number two overall for IP services and named us as the top firm for prosecution. The survey also showed us as the number
two firm for litigation, beating out other leading IP law firms. Out of the top firms surveyed, we were one of only three that appeared on
both the prosecution and litigation lists.
Fish is #1 in ITC litigation
IP Law & Business named us the top firm in the country for patent litigation at the International Trade Commission (ITC). In a
survey published in June 2008,
IP Law & Business found that we handle more
ITC patent litigation than any other firm.
We have an excellent track record: our
litigation victories have consistently been named to the National Law Journal's biggest winners list for more than a decade.
We help our clients capture the value of their intellectual property through patent, trademark,
copyright, and trade secret protection. Fish & Richardson is among the top firms in the country in number of
patents obtained each year, with more than 1600 patents. We file 4,700 patent applications each year;
221 of our attorneys are admitted to the patent bar. Our staff includes 80 PhD's. Fish & Richardson
wrote and prosecuted the patents on an invention that earned our client recognition as
2003
Inventor of the Year, awarded by the Intellectual Property Owners association.
In addition to our intellectual property practice, we have a broad complex litigation practice that includes
not only patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation, but also a wide range of high-stakes,
high-tech business litigation. Our regulatory group advises clients who seek to market products subject to FCC and FDA
regulation.
