The MRC is proud to announce and invite participants to the Mekong River Summit, to take place in 2-5 April 2010 in Hua Hin, Thailand.

The Summit, which is the first of its kind, will gather together regional political leaders and a range of experts in the field of integrated water resources management. It will serve to strengthen regional cooperation between Member Countries, Dialogue Partners and civil society at large in this important area.

This event marks the 15th Anniversary of the Mekong River Commission and will serve to reaffirm at the highest level, political commitment of Member Countries to the mission of the MRC. It will aim to reaffirm the continued good relationships that the organisation has with Dialogue Partners the People’s Republic of China and the Union of Myanmar; and discuss a range of challenges and opportunities facing the Mekong Basin today, especially the long-term effects of climate change and the role of River Basin Organisations in poverty alleviation.

International Conference
A two-day International Conference will precede the Summit which has the above as its theme.

Transboundary Water Resources Management in a Changing World

The Pre-Summit International Conference will be a unique opportunity to bring together worldwide high level experts to enable learning from both international and domestic experiences in addressing future challenges in transboundary water resources management. A Statement of the Conference will be conveyed to the Heads of State and other political leaders meeting at the Summit.
