About Me: Alan has a MS in Geography from Penn State and a BS in Geography from Frostburg State University. He has 15 years of experience in programming, database administration, system administration, geographic information systems and cartography. Prior to Ithaka, he worked at the Securities Industry Automation Corporation, COCC, SNET Internet, Advo, and U.S. EPA.

John Burns - Director of Technology Planning

About Me: John is a lapsed mathematician who comes to JSTOR after two decades in HP Labs from where he has a wide range of publications and patents. He has extensive recent experience in image and document processing, and rustier experience in security, cryptography and networking. He brings a keen interest in document understanding and analysis of content and corpora to make them more useful and to enable new knowledge to emerge.

Keith Kiser - Technology Manager

About Me: Keith has an MS in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology, a BA in Computer Science from Rutgers and over 23 years of experience in software development. Prior to Ithaka, he was a Team Lead and Systems Engineer at Leapstone, where two of his projects were service integration and package for wireline carriers with a wholesale/retail model and content integration with content packaging, bundling, and pricing for wireless carriers. Keith started his career at AT&T Bell Labs and then moved on to Telecordia Technologies. While at AT&T he received the AT&T VP Excellence Award for work in reusable architectures and received two patents as part of a team creating and executing complex call logic in voice-over-IP networks.

About Me: Michael has worked at JSTOR since 2002 when he graduated from the University of Michigan's School of Information with an M.S.I. in Human Computer Interaction. Michael came to the technical world via the Humanities, having received his B.A. in English and Spanish from the University of Michigan. Michael has worked on several aspects of the JSTOR site including Current Issues Linking, CrossRef DOI registration, reference linking, and faceted search. When not working, Michael enjoys photography and spending time with his human family as well as his two Jack Russell Terriers.

About Me: Ron has over 25 years of experience building complex software-centric systems, including 15 years in the aerospace industry developing embedded software for military applications. Prior to coming to JSTOR he participated in a 4 year DARPA research project defining architectures for the construction of large-scale distributed agent-based applications. He is interested in text analysis and collective intelligence techniques for content discovery.
