Bluetooth Low Energy Wireless Technology
Thanks to its innovative design, Bluetooth low energy wireless technology consumes only a fraction of the power of Classic Bluetooth radios. This design enables the technology to be used in devices powered by coin cell batteries and, in some cases, makes it possible to operate these devices for more than a year without recharging.
In December 2009, the Bluetooth SIG announced the release of the new Bluetooth low energy wireless technology, which is the hallmark feature of Bluetooth Core Specification v4.0.
Bluetooth low energy wireless technology will allow watches and toys, as well as sports & wellness, health care, human interface (HIDs) and entertainment devices to be easily added to one’s personal area network. The technology can be built into products such as watches, wireless keyboards, gaming and sports sensors, which can then connect to host devices such as mobile phones and personal computers.
