Monday Cable Ratings: Damages Flat, While Pawn Stars, American Pickers, WWE Raw Shine

Posted on 13 April 2010 by Bill Gorman

Damages added a handful of viewers (a college basketball arena’s worth) vs. last week when it had 745,000, but its 18-49 rating didn’t change. And now even company town cheerleader Variety doubts its survival.

Pawn Stars, American Pickers, and WWE RAW continued to be the ratings darlings of cable Mondays.

Nurse Jackie recovered a bit from a big drop last week, but United States of Tara was flat. No matter for now, they have already been renewed for third seasons, so it doesn’t matter until next year.

Saving Grace was up ever so slightly in viewers, while its 18-49 demo was flat vs. last week.

Who are these people that watch Pawn Stars, American Pickers and WWE Raw? Here I am in Texas where all the Bubba's live, and I don't know anyone who tunes in to this stuff. This in turn makes me wonder about the ratings system. There are a lot of Damages fans around here. Texas must be the 745,000 viewers.

I liked it enough last year. It wasn't the best show ever, but it was entertaining, and picked up a lot by the end of the season. It was also only half an hour long, which was the perfect length. Not too long to completely bore me, but long enough to waste some time. But what I saw of this season pretty much just started over again. We had finally gotten to the juicy part of the show, and now we're back to the beginning. I also find the kids' story lines particularly annoying this season. I liked them last season, but they got annoying over the past year. Not sure why.

Seems to be an epidemic. After USoT failed to impress me last season I didn't even tune in for this one. I think a lot of people expected something different from the show.
  • I don't really care for United States of Tara this season. I've stopped watching.

Weren't Nurse Jackie and USoT doing significantly better last summer? Personally, I've stopped watching USoT this season, but I haven't given up on Nurse Jackie yet.
  • Note that USofT is on Showtime, a premium channel, where ratings are not a primary concern. Damages is on FX. Different story entirely.

From what I'm reading here, US of Tara should be in much, much greater danger than Damages. Had it not been renewed...

Damages is essentially finished, doubt anything will save it. Saw this coming last season, which is a shame because this season and been great, comparable or maybe even better then the first. Not going to make excuses for the series, but maybe should have stayed as a summer only program.
