You Say Party! We Say Die! drummer Devon Clifford collapsed onstage during a Friday night concert in Vancouver and passed away early Sunday morning. He was 30 years old.
After Clifford fell during the concert, lead singer Becky Ninkovic asked audience members to call 911, and soon after midnight paramedics arrived and Clifford was rushed to the emergency room. The show came at the tail end of a long North American tour and the dance-rock band, hailing from the Vancouver suburb of Abbottsford, were planning to kick off their tour of Europe on April 26.
Clifford reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage and after having emergency neurosurgery at 3AM, he was on full life support for about a day before passing away early Sunday.
The Vancouver music community is reeling, and YSP!WSD!'s record label Paper Bag released this statement Sunday morning:
"It is with absolute sadness to report that our dear friend Devon Clifford passed away just hours ago in a Vancouver hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. I request that we respect the family's privacy during this incredibly difficult time."

How sad! These people work so hard all their young lives trying to get recognition and become someone and it is so heartbreaking that he will never claim what he gave his life for. My heart & prayers go out to his family and bandmates. God Bless.

Although I have never heard of him or his band, my sympathies go out to his family and friends in Devon's unexpected death...R.I.P.

Hey young people...listen up...even though you feel super healthy, please keep up with regular checkups...I dont know if this was preventable but if anything is hurting or bothering you, please dont ignore it. Find a doctor that takes you seriously. He may of been suffering from bad headaches previously...many times there are warnings..I almost died at age 29 because several doctors dissed my pain as just menstrual...it was a tumor...

IVE KNOWN PEOPLE IN PERFECT HEALTH AND GET A CHECK UP AND DIE THE NEXT DAY OF A HEART ATTACK! IT DOESNT MATTER HOW HEALTHY YOU ARE IT CAN STILL HAPPEN TO ANYONE! AND AT ANYTIME, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE IN LIFE!

like I said before, dude didn't want to party, and so he died, how many people died today, young old and in between, yeah and God bless, sure...maybe if he had been in Church worshiping God he would still be alive ?
he died doing what he loved, already 1 up on most people
get over it, we're all not far behind.

You sound so stupid. Why not wait until you are out from under your drug sounding haze to comment?
Leslieat 4-18-2010
What a terrible philosophy you have! One does not have to be in CHURCH to worship God. What about the quiet of one's heart? I certainly hope that you haven't raised your children with that frame of mind. Wonderful things happen as well as terrible things happen regardless of whether people are in their churches, synagogues, temples or not. Please open up your mind.

If this comment is really "like you said before", that's just sad. That means you had practice, and you still come off like a freaking moron. Rumor has it Jesus even loves addled blogtards, so maybe there's still a ray of hope for you and your pathetic life.

You right wing idiot! I am so fed up with your religious bullshit. One of your fringe idiots killed a doctor in church because he felt he had a right to do this. Please keep your religious opinions to yourself and stop dis-respecting this poor boys family. If you don't have something nice to say then perhaps saying nothing would be best. Jesus was not hateful or judgmental, Remember this.

This is terrible ... looks like they were on the verge of success. My heart goes out to the survivors.
OBigRondogat 4-18-2010
Survivors? What do you mean, it wasn't a traffic accident! All appropriate condolences go out to the family and loved ones!
KaraJoat 4-19-2010
'Survivors' is a term for those left behind. It's more than common for obituaries to read "Survivors include wife, 2 children, 5 grandchildren..." They aren't necessarily people that survived the same accident.
asswipegwbat 4-19-2010
SURVIVORS ? LOLOLOL , did ya even read the article ?
Kevinat 4-19-2010
If you read the obits, it is commonly referred to as "survived by..." and then family members are listed. I think that is clearly the intent of the comment. Lighten up, folks!
