Fr. Ashley joined the faculty of Aquinas Institute in River Forest, Illinois, in 1952 and served as President from 1962 to 1969. He continues to teach courses in philosophy and spirituality in St. Louis. He is author of dozens of books and articles, including Theologies of the Body (1999), Living the Truth in Love: A Biblical Introduction to Moral Theology (1996), Thomas Aquinas: Gifts of the Spirit, (1995), Spiritual Direction in the Dominican Tradition (1995), and The Dominicans.
Fr. Ashley has served as consultant to the U.S. Catholic Bishops on moral matters, and was Professor of Moral Theology at the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family in Washington, D.C. and the Institute for the Psychological Sciences in Arlington, Virginia.
